Does anyone have the inclination and time to knock up a championship table for the 2008 season with all of the "wrong" stewards decisions taken out. I am just curious as to what difference it will actually make. scratchchin

Thanks!

Bloody hell i didn't think it would have been such a difference.

Is there any going back from this?

Edit to say - i don't mean the stewrads descisions being reversed. It seems that the sport has turned a corner where every move is analysed and acted upon by the stewards. Now its been done once, surely it has to be done everytime.

What it does mean of course, is that if Massa wins the championship, it will always be regarded a tainted victory.

Fortunately for them, Ferrari never seem to care!

Sadly not every move. I think one of the main criticisms of the stewards' decisions is that they are not universally and consistently applied.
The other criticism of course is that most of them should not have been applied at all.

Personally I don't see any problem with the Valencia/France penalties (or lack of in Valencia's case) Belgium is very hard to come to a clear conclusion, however, the penalty was too harsh IMO, I remain undecided with the Bourdais incident until I see the in-car view, or one from the inside of the corner, as a result the point difference isn't that big.

All IMO of course

I don't understand anyone not agreeing that the Bourdais penalty was a total farce. What was he suppose to do? Stop? Yield to teh Ferrari? Even after being told in the drivers briefing that cars leaving the pits had the right-of-way?

IMHO the only reason Bourdais got penalised was because Massa isn't good enough to overtake someone, jeez, there was at least 5 times when the leaders came up to the pits to overtake someone and Massa was the only one that f'd up, ridiculous!!
I like Bourdais and I think unfortunately he'll be without a drive next year which is a real shame as next year will suit him perfectly and SV has got so much press this year.

No penalty. Hamilton made a silly mistake but did nothing wrong. Racing incident.
Penalty Massa. Massa makes a mistake, Hamilton takes advantage, Massa causes an avoidable accident (not deliberately in my eyes).
No penalty. Bourdais stays exactly where CW told the drivers to stay, Massa makes the pass but turns in too early. Racing incident.

All IMO of course but I'd be interested to hear certain other peoples views of these incidents based on that video.

Sorry I meant to specify Bourdais' in-car, it's still too hard to tell from those angles for me to make a decision, obviously the stewards aren't so indecisive tongue out

Yes but as we have already seen, Charlie Whiting is a liar

I don't agree, CW is straight up, it's the others that choose not to listen to his opinion.

What, straight up as in:
"Yes Ron I believe that is fair" in Belgium

or

"Cars leaving the pits take priority"

?

Lewis is World Champion - shame the FIA don't see that.
