If memory serves, the article made mention of a number of features that have either been banned in F1 or rejected as unworkable at the time (i.e. the six-wheel concept): active suspension, ABS, traction control and continuously variable transmission among them. I remember thinking that CVT in particular sounded like a terrible idea.

I think Williams did some work on CVT for F1, could have had some major benefits, but it got banned?clonmult said:

Those who witnessed the Williams CVT said as much.
the 6 wheeler tyrell did confused williams as there seemed to be no point to having the 4 wheels at the front. having them at the rear would allow the foremost 2 wheels to run wet tyres in the rain and the last 2 to be slicks and transmit loads more power to the road.
The front wing isnt actually there to produce downforce in any meaningful way on this car, its just a flow conditioner as the full length skirts combined with active suspension would produce more than would ever be needed anyway.
That ultimate williams did still use the standard tyres and their dimensions that we have today as opposed to some low profile ones and also just used a 3.0 v10 which they reckoned could probably be tuned to 1200bhp iirc.

Thats awful, there isn't a single machine gun. Also is there a reason why they would use a normal engine, was it that hard for an engineer to write about an imaginary quad turbo 48-litre flat 16?http://img189.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img04820q...
