Did Hamilton deserve the title?

As much as I should be elated by yesterdays historic motorsport achievement, why did Hamilton mess up yet again under pressure? Instead of that fighting spirit we've seen from him over this whole year, he played the safe card which nearly lost him the F1 title. I'm not so sure that McLarens tatics worked all that well yesterday as Hamilton could of reeled in fourth place but the decisions were made to keep hold of fith. They forgot about Sebastien Vettel who we all knew would revel in the wet conditions and would take Hamilton before the chequered flag. Massa was faultless all weekend, and without that little miss-hap by Toyota, was in my opinion this years F1 champion. There's no doubt Hamilton has come into the sport and completely turned it on his head. But yesterday reminded me of a few controversial Schumacher moments where luck played a huge part in his victories. Is 2008 Hamiltons only F1 drivers title or will he scoop another in 2009? Next year will be interesting as we all know that a winning (package) doesn't always have a successful run. All in all ITV's last broadcasting season (thank God) and F1 as a whole this year has been edge-of-the-seat stuff (how fitting that ITV ended thier 12 year run in the pouring rain!). British motorsport needs Lewis Hamilton, but I'm not jumping for joy for yesterdays historic victory.

Guess you forgot all about those stolen/gifted points awarded by the FIA. In reality Massa never even came close.
I posted this on another thread but this seems the better place for it in light of everything that is going on there (there are some who should be ashamed of themselves!).
I think that this year at Brazil it was a bit of a case of Ron and the boys saying "Right Lewis we did it your way last year and this year we are going to do it our way..."
The biggest problem they had yesterday was not only the total curve ball of the weather but the fact they just could not risk Lewis giving anyone even the slightest chink for an external factor to work with. It was a high risk situation which nearly didn't work out for them. But it did so
for Lewis, and (honestly) 
for Massa, who i would love to see have another shot next year.
All season long I have been hoping that Lewis would win the championship and that Massa would be second. If Lewis had lost I would have been happy for Massa to have won right up until the Spa incident when I became of the opinion that Massa would have to win the WDC by at least 5 points (or more victories if tied) for it to have been ‘valid’ IMO.
The only ‘anti Massa’ sentiment I have had all year which he had any real hand in was when he and Lewis had their coming together at the last round.
I STILL have a massive mix of emotions today, pride and joy at Lewis sealing the title he so richly deserves (the first of many?), and desolation for Massa who, let’s face it, has probably just seen his last real chance of the title disappear having done all he could this year and doing everything asked of him yesterday.
My commiserations to a very dignified Massa, his family and friends, my congratulations to Lewis and his.

t myself. I used to think he was ace, a breath of fresh air but I'm easily swayed and led. After reading this forum all season, I now hope Lewis loses his seat at Mclaren next year and starts to put in some poor performances for Force India. He deserves demotion because he's crap. I hope he ends up in some rank tin-top series on the UK circuits.He's the devil. I truly believe this now.

Yes, of course. The lad did very, very well.
Good on him and I hope it's the first of many. His F1 career should be long enough to be able to beat even Schumacher's record. Whether or not that happens he's still joined a very, very select list of British World Champions. What an achievement!

I dont think Ferrari did have the best car, on some tracks yes they did but on a lot Mclaren had the upper hand. Ferrari have 2 good drivers Mclaren have Lewis, if they had a decent second driver then they would have won both.Bets car won the Manafacturers Championship.

Anyway, Lewis has made only as many errors as the other drivers:
Lewis:
Spazzed it into Alonso in Bahrain
Spazzed it into Raikkonen in Canada
Arguable spazz-ness in Japan
Team spazz-ness in Italy
Massa:
Spun out in Malaysia
Total clawed-hand numpty-ness in GB
Arguable spazz-ness in Germany
Team spazz-ness in Singapore/Italy
Raikkonen
Spazz-ness from Monaco onwards really....
Anyway the point is, not all championships are won Schumacher-esque mid-way through the season. Those are the exception to the rule in fact.
I wouldn't say Alonso dominated either of his championships but no-one's questioning whether he deserved them....
Lewis totally deserved it. Massa's title would have been tainted by the Belgium robbery....

He's 23 years old, he has committed his life to F1, he has only two seasons behind him and he will be the first to admit he has more to learn.I dont think he deserved the title.
But credit where credit is due, he did the business this year.
Unlike Schumacher and Senna, Lewis has not really 100% barged someone off the road. He's been agressive yes, but not OTT.
I laugh at some people who comment on the way Lewis, Lewis' Dad and Ron smile.... WTF is that about? They love what they do they try 110% all day everyday and have to travel all year, they must be knackared...
I loved Ron's comments at the end of the live ITV filming where he said he'd "like to thank everyone in Britain for the support", such a nice touch.
Massa had a great great season and I think he is a fantastic driver but it was Lewis' title fair and square.
Well done Lewis, you did Britian proud!!
And.....if the seasons to come I am sure Lewis will not impeed other people when they may be fighting for the championship. Alonso keep your mouth shut, let your driving do the talking.... You were bad last season and this year? Do you never learn?
