They should be running a feature on the first British WDC Mike Hawthorn. World Champion for Ferrari in 1958 (beating Stirling Moss) after his Ferrari team-mate moved aside to gift Hawthorn 2nd place in the last race of the season.

Hawthorn was killed a few months later in a road accident on the Hogs Back near Guildford.

Blink and you'd have missed it. They spent more time on the bloke with the speech impediment going on about Salmon. Doesn't bode at all well for next year, at one point that idiot Chiles was mooted as anchor, he said he didn't have a clue what was going on yesterday

It was disappointing. Chiles is a football fan, motor sport's a bit beyond him.

There was a better review of the final race on Talking Sport later last night, Ex BBC Radio 5 F1 man Jonathan Ledgard was there to comment as was football comentator Jonathan Pearce and Johnny Herbert.

Ledgard is now a football man but knows his F1 as does Pearce.

The review was severly hampered by the BBC's inability to show any footage from the race itself. At what point do they start being able to make use of their broadcast rights, I wonder?
