odds on Button finishing in top 5 next year

I would expect the Honda team to benefit from their decision to concentrate on their 2009 car at the expense of points gain this season. That said I wouldn't expect more than a consistent grid position between 8th and 15th and at best a lower top third points position by the end of 2009.

Top 5? I'd go with in the Top 5 English Drivers on the Grid... Hell, I'd even put money on it...
Even Button appears to have said that whilst they concentrated on next years car, other teams have been improving as well so they may well go back to being in the middle, rather than at the back.

How about a spread bet 'buy' on his points - that would be a better option if you think he'll be more successful in '09 than the bookies do, but he wouldn't necessarily have to finish in the top 5 to make you a few quid.i don't think he'll win but i fancy a punt on top 5 if the odds are good enough (i know i may have narrowed them such is the belief of my followers..!)!
You have missed out the Ross Brawn effect. If Jense is given a car that is designed to his driving style, a contract that says he is undisputed number one in the team, a team mate that will move over for him every time and the FIA to allow him to do what he wants on the track he should finish in the top 12 nearly every race - don't know the odds on that though......

Closest I have ever found was a handicap betting system, in the year Button did well (2004 ?) I had a bet he would finish within 60 points of the champion, would have got away with it if it wasn't for that meddling German winning all and sundryi don't think he'll win but i fancy a punt on top 5 if the odds are good enough (i know i may have narrowed them such is the belief of my followers..!)!

You're going to have to wait quite a bit longer for markets like that to appear.
The only markets available now are Drivers Championship and Constructors Championship. You can get 100-1 for Jenson in the Drivers, with each way paying down to the 3rd spot at 1/5 the odds. Honda are 33-1 to win the constructors but it's win only, no each way.
Neither bets look great value to me. I think Jenson will do well next year, but I can't see a top 3 finish. And as for Honda winning the championship, I'll happily lay 50-1 on that.
