Wales WRC - Forest Stage Entry for Free?

I'm going with some friends to the Rally this weekend. We've got tickets to the Stadium but were planning to go and watch the stages at Crychan and/or Halfway on Saturday...

Do we need day tickets to get into the forest/gravel stages?

We'd assumed the day tickets got you into the service areas and that standing in the forest would be free but we can't find anything to confirm this and don't fancy driving all the way to the top of Brecon for nothing....

I went to a couple of stages last year. You do need a pass for the spectator areas - the entry ticket is more like an entry to the car park. After that we didn't have our tickets checked. The problem being that you can't park out on the road so if you drive to the stage you have to park in their car park.

We met a few guys that had snuck in - their parents had dropped them outside the fence!

The forest stages need a seperate ticket - £90 for the whole event or £35 per day. This gets you in the car park and on the stage. The price is EACH unfortunately, not per car. Have a look at http://www.walesrallygb.com

I was half-tempted to have a trip down but it think i'll save the cash for Club rallies. They deserve it more.

And to think we all used to park and walk in, often miles. It was free then though, agree about spending the money helping out on club rallies instead. Better than greasing the pockets of the already rich and famous...and the forestry commission or whatever they call themselves

Dig out the OS 1:50,000 maps, put on your walking boots and get trekking.

I'm not going cos I can't be arsed. Oh and it's less hassle to go to Ireland in January (Feb?) drive up to the tape at the edge of the stage, get out and watch for free.

Club rallying costs a fraction to park and view the stages, and there is a wider variety of cars.

Save your cash. Watch WRC online and then on Sunday on Dave, and head down in the new year for the Wydean
