Jenson buttons 09 options......

Does anyone know what seats may still be available for button in 09 or is he well and truly up the creek

Staying at Honda/Whatever it's called if and when it's bought.

Red Bull if Webber's leg doesn't heal

They are the only 'official' options.

Surprisingly, I think Williams would have him back if possible. Maybe not in 09 but he could test for a year for a race seat in 2010 when Rosberg jumps ship.

I think his options elsewhere are limited after the whole contract thing....

Easy to say with hindsight.

One year's under performing team can be the next year's getting-it-together-and-starting-to-perform team, which can be the following year's championship-contender team.

Look at Schumacher from 96-99. Many would have said that he was a fool to go to and stay at Ferrari for those years because they were honestly, genuinely st. What wins he did get came about through his own skill.

From 2000 on he did 'OK' though

This is what Jenson wanted - to take a team that was under-performing/doing OK and have the satisfaction of taking them to being a championship contender.

Maybe if there hadn't been a credit crunch he'd have got his wish.

Suppose thats the difference between a world champion and an also ran i.e the ability to take an underperforming car and develop it with the team in the same way alonso seems to be able to drag that renault from the mid / back of the field to the front in one season but he's not dealing with the japs

Not hindsight, I can rememember having a conversation with some mates after Honda bought it 100% and got shot of DR. I said if JB can see the wood thru the trees he'll follow him out the door pronto as a 100% Honda will go backwards down the grid.
I have been constantly reminding them of that conversation every season since then.

Credit crunch's got nothing to do with Honda/Toyota's continued lack of understanding of what it takes to win in F1 (one lucky race not-withstanding).

They should have stuck to engine supply.
