I know that he has sponsors to please but you dont see Ronaldo wearing his football gear everytime he is interviewed! Or you dont see Rossi wearing his overalls or Stephen Hendry in a waistcoat!

i wouldnt really say weird. It looks like a Johnnie Walker dont drink drive campaign, as a sponsor they just want as much publicity as possible.

Sometimes it is a little ott but in most personal interviews, like the last one LH did for bbc he was dressed in his own clothes.

Is this really what the Beeb report on? Man (being interviewed in his, presumably, second language) takes a few seconds to ponder before giving an answer to a not entirely straight forward question?

It looks like he was about to give a real answer too, but was cut off for 'comic' effect.

Bit different to these other sports though as I would say its more of a way of life and you are really owned by the team and cant speak out as you would probably wish to (not directly relevant to your point I guess).

I saw an interview with Ronnie O Sullivan this week, he just doesnt take it that seriously, doesnt want sponsorship and wants to keep a low profile. He has turned down millions of pounds so he doesnt have his face on an advert! I dont think he even practices that much, but he is naturally gifted whereas an F1 driver has to put a LOT in all the time.

I dont know a lot about football but from what we hear about some of them, you dont really need to be a robot to do that job either.

Look at footballer and manager interviews. The vast bulk of them now take place in front of advertising boards showing all the sponsors etc.

Yep, sponsor thing I guess. It's to get as much publicity as they can.

I would love it though, if Lewis went to a Vodafone sponsor's do in an Arsenal shirt (remember O2 sponsor them!) and declare Vodafone to be st.

DC is the best for this. On his retirement;

"I suppose I can say whatever I like now, except Red Bull tastes like rat piss"

I just wish the drivers could speak their minds and not be remotely controlled by the bosses and sponsors.
