slightly harder to decide as this requires a significant level of motorsport knowledge... not for your F1 fanboys this one.

here are mine

1 Henri Toivonen
2 Markku Alen
3 Rauno Altonen
4 Jean Ragnotti
5 Gilles Panizzi
6 Francois Delecour
7 Bruno Thiry
8 Tony Pond
9 Roger Clarke
10Mikeal Ericsson

I reckon you will all struggle with this....

No nominations for Giggi Galli? Gets on my list simply for the entertainment.

Personal prejudice (of course!) but I was always a huge fan of Tony Pond and I'd move him higher up the list. He drove a wide variety of cars but always tried to stay with a British product, which I guess held him back from the success he might otherwise have had, but phenomenal car control and total commitment, always. So far as I recall, always the fastest guy in whatever type of car he was driving, including the TR7 V8s and Metro 6R4s. RIP!

I'd second that, if you'd asked this question last year then my answer would've been Latvala.

Assuming you to mean post'78 and "never to win the WRC and keep it for more than a fortnight", then:

Alen
Toivonen
Munari
Mouton
Arrikala
Bettiga
Pond
Ericson
Panizzi
Martin
