Where to camp at Silverstone GP?

I haven't used it for the GP, but Whittlebury Park is fine for other meetings and about 15 mins walk from the entrance on the start/finish straight.

I used Whittlebury park for the grand prix last year. Couldn't fault it. A lot of the drivers stay on the same site but in the hotel. Make sure you take plenty of food with you though, it's very expensive for what you get. Shower facilities are good, but make sure you get up very early they get very busy. Also up the top end near the hotel there is a bar i think called the pavilion, worth going up there. I travelled up on the thursday morning, but in the afternoon it seemed a little to manic. I used Whittlebury for the GP testing and The Classic last year and it was great. The atmosphere at The Classic was great - really relaxed with some nice cars around and families having a good time. I'm sure the GP is more chaotic.
Of course this could well be the last British GP so worth enjoying.

Don't pitch your tent downhill from the communal toilet. Further, the first thing to look for when you get to the circuit is a toilet and to pick a spot there. If you eat any of the food supplied at the circuit I would suggest finding a toilet with a view of the track.
You might think it a good idea to take your own Porta Potti but I came back to my tent on the Saturday evening to find a queue outside it.
Don't pitch your tent anywhere near what might become a thoroughfare, vehicles or foot. I've lost count of the number of people who have walked into my orange tent or tripped on the guy ropes.
Everyone's helpful though. One year the bloke in the quick erect tent next to mine was very touched to find that someone had not only taken his tent down but packed it away as well. And, just to give him some room in his car, had taken it away for him as well. I was in a 15-year-old Vango.
The good thing is that if you want to make your way to the circuit nice an early on race day there's little chance of you oversleeping. Or, come to that, sleeping.
I remember one year pitching me tent at a spot favoured by a guy who erected a big board of velcro and people put a special suit on and threw themselves at the wall to stick on it. What limited enjoyment there was in listening to it during the day had evaporated by 2 am.
I took a caravan one year to a weekend event at Silverstone and I can say that it was worth all the extra bother.

We stayed at New Rookery Farm, part of the Silverstone Recreational Association. It's toward the farthest edge of the village. Your pitch is on one of 3 or 4 fields, dependant upon your arrival time. We arrived Thursday evening and were fairly close to the showers, toilets and the breakfast gazebo. A short walk through the fields took you to the live bands and bars of the sports club (interesting done in the dark). Although extremely busy it wasn't noisey at all and sleep was easy come by. The toilet/shower block was in the process of being modernised while we were there.
5 or so mins to the pub in the village and about 20-30 mins to the track. We enjoyed our stay and would go back there, given the chance.

. Still good value if there are 3 or 4 of you going, though.
