Honda saved yet?

I heard a rumour that Honda has been bought out. And that they will run a German engine next year....

Does anyone know what's happening at Honda at the moment? Is the workforce still working on the car and getting ready for the season should someone step in with the cash? Or are they all on gardening leave?

Sadly I think that they will fold in 11 days time, when the January 31st deadline set by Honda in Japan is reached.

They've continued to work towards next season since Honda announced they were pulling out, albeit at a reduced level (ie, one tunnel only etc)

I think the German engine is a done deal, subject to the team getting a buyer.

I'd expect any sale to be pretty much agreed by now - they can't leave it much longer if they are going to be in melbourne...

It's going to be a busy few weeks for them if the sale does go through though!

Surely they "continue to work towards next season" is what they always say anyway- ie they are now working towards the 2010 car so dont expect too much with this seasons car. But next season- woah!

If they have put as much effort into the 2009 car as they have been making out, then I expect anyone who buys the team will have a stonking car at a bargain price.

I thought the car had been designed to run the honda engine which is likely to mean a re-design and probably compromise to run a "german" engine.

The engine was explicitly never part of the deal, so no.
