Britcar/Production latest regulations update 9/2/09

The dropping of the idea of control fuel is, in my view, very sensible. The proposal for control fuels from one named supplier would have increased costs and meant aggravation in sourcing the stuff, storing it in usable quantities for testing etc.....
In the Production races the class divisions based on power to weight and new notes on maximum engine displacements in classes 2 and 3 are contradictory with regard to forced induction cars.

I must admit, I can't really get my head around the class splits for the 3 productions classes. Class 2 & 3 are near enough identical in terms of power to weight at approx. 185 bhp/tonne and are just split now by engine capacity. Then there is a massive jump to class 1 which is 262 bhp/tonne!In the Production races the class divisions based on power to weight and new notes on maximum engine displacements in classes 2 and 3 are contradictory with regard to forced induction cars.

Class 2 can run with extended body arches but classes 1 & 3 cannot. I've emailed the powers to be a couple of times for clarification of the regs but they haven't answered. Can anyone here shed some light on why the splits are like this ?
GuyS, the intention is to allow up to 2ltr but fairly standard cars to race in class 3 as there is a maximum bhp at the wheels of 221bhp. Class 2 allows larger engined 'standard' cars or smaller engined 'tuned' cars as there is no max bhp. The idea is to allow cars such as a fairly standard 2ltr Civic or a Clio cup car somewhere to race competitively.
As always, we can't please everyone all the time but we try to encompass as many cars as possible into a reasonable number of classes.
This is similar to last years regs however please keep dialogue coming from yourselves, for example if you all prefer just an engine size class classification or just a power to weight classification or just a bhp limit to define a class let us know and we will try to go with the general consensus of opinion as the championship develops.

Thanks the prompt reply David. Who is the right person to contact at Britcar Mansions for queries with the regs etc ?As always, we can't please everyone all the time but we try to encompass as many cars as possible into a reasonable number of classes.

So if you have a strict power to weight formula policed via DL1, why the engine capacity restriction aswell? All that rule does is effectively eliminate anyone attempting to race on a tight budget who wants to keep their engine pretty standard and reliable! For example all the E36 M3's (like mine!) would be forced to spend a small fortune in order to screw 370+ horses out of 'em to have a chance to be competitive in class 1! Seems daft to me especially given the economic climate.
