Would anyone be interested in a 24hr karting race?

Hello,
Would anyone be interested in taking part in a 24hr karting event in August this year? I'm looking for one extra driver to complete a team entry.
The race is held at Teeside Autodrome in Middlesborough over the Sat/Sun of the August Bank Holiday weekend, with practice sessions on the Friday. Qualifying and the race itself are on Saturday, with the race starting at 12 noon.
The circuit can provide a kart, fuel and tyres plus everything else needed to do the race at a cost of £900. I'm looking to enter a team of 5 drivers, of which I already have 4 (including myself). So, the costs per person would be £180 each, all in.
The organisers require 50% up front (£450 for the team - ie £90 each) once the application is submitted. There are then 2 further payments - one on 1st May, the next on 1st July - (£225 for the team - ie £45 each).
So, each team member would make the following payments -
1. End of March (say) - £90
2. 1st May - £45
3. 1st July - £45
There are 50 places available and so far 25 of those have been taken. The person I spoke to at the circuit told me that all places are usually taken by May.
Having driven the Teeside circuit I can say for definite that it is a great track and some good speeds are possible. The karts themselves would be twin engined 4-stroke karts that are pretty damn quick.

I'd love to find someone who's up for this as I reckon it would be a fantastic weekend, even if you're no Lewis Hamilton!

I did this last year, but in a owner kart. It was good fun, but our team kind of sucked big time, lots of mechanical problems (brakes seizing, stub axle going etc.), and the majority of our team could only manage 30-45 min stints towards the end, after that they lost all pace. Overall we placed 36th I think.
So IMO hire kart is definetly the way to go, and also get up to a decent fitness level, you'll enjoy it more, as to be competitve you need to be doing 2hr stints. I would do it again but I really don't have the money, with uni coming up soon.

There were 5 drivers in our team as well, however the winning team in the hire karts had only 2 drivers from what I can remember, so 5 is easily enough. Also they use a time penalty for the hire karts, judging on the weight of the team, so one option which a few teams do is to get some heavey "drivers".
When I raced we were using the short configuration, as they had problems with mud and and flooding at the other end of the circuit. But even with the short circuit I wouldn't say it was extremely crowded, just plenty of action i.e. you don't really get held up, but have some good battles throughout the day, certainly makes it interesting.

Stu, I'm not sure how good they are - good enough to have fun in I bet.
They're twin engined 4 strokes, so they wont hang around, but wont be as fast as 2 stroke Rotax or TKMs.
That said, after 24hrs you might not want them to be going that fast!
Drop me a line if you fancy making up our team, one guy is messing me about at the mo, so I may have 2 spots rather than just the one.

The rental karts are 11hp twin engine two stroke jobbies, not amazingly quick but good enough to keep up, well maintained, you only get passed by the guys with serious hardware (if you can drive well enough!). You'd never challenge the serious guys anyway, without development time. When I did it a couple of years ago, there were more rentals than owners and most of the owners had karts of comparable spec.
The track is nice and tight with plenty of scope for passing and a couple of longer straights, but you need those so you can let go of the steering wheel and flex your hands after an hour of clinging on for dear life!
