BBC commentary team

Might well know what they are talking about, but the teaming up of a dour and humourless Scot with a sometimes incoherent Irishman didnt make for good and easy listening. IMO they desperately need someone in there who isnt an F1 nerd and has some sense of humour.

Maybe with Murray you laughed at him rather than with him, but you did laugh.

for a first race, I am *massively* impressed with the BBC setup

yes, it could be improved, but already way better than IT-ste.

Frankly I prefered the ITV coverage. OK it had adverts but apart from the odd occasion you didn't miss much. At least they did a bit more than the bare minimum race coverage - looks like BBC are back to form with a tiny 5 min preamble before the race starts. Give it a couple of months and it'll have taken a back seat in the schedules.

ETA: for those of us who don't live and breathe F1 they've barely mentioned anything about what's changed this season...

I think they are cutting the pre race talkie hour from the daytime repeat. They did the same with the qualifying yesterday.

There was a full hour pre-amble on the live show, with half an hour after the race, and then a full hour F1 Forum discussion, interview and analysis feature straight afterwards on the red button.

Kicks the stuffing out of ITV's efforts in my opinion!

True to some extent except when we end up watching 5 minutes of a battle for 5th place (or whatever it was) because Hamilton is involved when there is a battle going on for te lead.

Yep, counting the red button you had 4 hours of F1 this morning, with the 1 hour pre race, wrap up post race and red button forum programme. With a choice of commentary teams (I noticed there was a CBBC commentary as well as Radio 5), in car camera feeds, warm up and practice sessions on digital. I've been very impressed with the BBC this weekend.

Why aren't they showing it NOW though? Let's face it, only the most committed are going to get up in the middle of the night to watch it.

Yep,same here,although i did say to my O/H when it was on "where are those ads when you need em,i need the loo" ,no honestly very impressed this weekend

I thought the commentary was ok.. Nothing outstanding but ok. Martin Brundle to be honest is the cornerstone and if i'm honest about the only one really worth listening to.

Ted Kravits (or however it's spelt) is pretty good at getting info from the pits during the race.

I think Mark Blundell was good on ITV and could quite happily have put him in place of Jake Humphrey or that Legard fellow.

I can't say i warm to David Coulthard's somewhat dry approach. Eddie Jordan is ok. He spices things up a bit with his directness and no doubt him and D.C will be having a civil ceremony any time now.

But at the end of the day, getting shot of the adverts has improved things no end.
