Hi All,
Some of the drivers will have already have been introduced to me by George Carter, others may need a further introduction. I am the Regional Organiser for the Herts and Beds Region of the TVRCC and I will be working with George this season covering the challenge series. I find myself in a Catch 22 situation and I'm hoping that one or two of you may be able to help me out.
I have arranged for a letter of accreditation from the editor of Sprint magazine and this is my first step to a media pass, this is an important document as it gets me your side of the fence and in better positions to take better pictures.
The situation is that Motorsportvision only issue one media pass per season and quite rightly George has this. I have spoken with them and they say that on 'most' occasions I will be able to register with them on the day.
This level of uncertainty leaves me with a problem, I may be able to get the pass in advance and for some meets I might not, the pass is my ticket in so without it I cant even get in to the circuit let alone the right side of the fence. Paying for tickets isn’t the major issue but as I may have to leave it to the very last chance I am concerned that I won’t be able to get one.
So here is where we can perhaps help each other, I know that the teams/drivers will get some tickets issued to them, what I am asking for is in return for one of those tickets I will become that team’s personal photographer. A ticket from you also gets me into the paddock not just the public car park. I will happily pay for the ticket and the cost of getting it to me.
Where do you benefit?
In addition to covering the races for Sprint and the websites I will be able to supply images directly to you for your own use. These will be copyright covered for me and the driver/team but can be used free of charge by the driver/team as they see fit. I will also work with the driver if he wants a particular shot and will cover the paddock as well so if you want pictures of your sponsors and supporters with you and the car you only need to ask. All images will be in jpeg format and will be post processed ready for use and can be sent to you via email or on CD. I can also arrange prints but this would be at cost (no profit).
I will be covering all of the race series this year, rain or shine!
If I am a teams accredited photographer, already there when the media sign on, accredited by the TVRCC it all strengthens my case to get a pass for the day and in the medium to long term enable me to get more work published and therefore will enable me to get a full time media pass.

If I've got a spare at donny you can have it..
There is no difference in the tickets though... anyone can get in the paddock.
Car parking is different. Where there is a requirement for a car paddock pass the teams will only get one or two, but at most places you can blag it straight in ( especially if your early). but be aware there is usually not a lot of space in the paddock.. and competitors will get grumpy if your parked where they need to be :-)

p.s. There is never any problem getting tickets on the gate if you have to... there is usually only space for another 100,000 spectators :-)

Hi Graham, Thanks for the offer, it is Donnington that is the most concern as it Britcar weekend as well.
The car being in the paddock car park would be good as it is closer for me to get the gear etc I promise to not get in the way
Yep George has spoken to John on my behalf and he is chuffed that there will be 2 of us this year but cant do anything about the media pass. He would be my first call if I couldnt lay my hands on a ticket if no one wants a pet snapper on their team

I should be at all the rounds so you can have our spare if needed.
Donnie may be an issue with some as its the one round when all sponsors/family/friends will be there. But you will be fine during the others.
Usually a wander by one of us...I'll do it...round the Paddock will free up a freebie from someone.

As Graham says, the tickets teams get have no special privileges, other than we get to pay anywhere between £300 to £2,000 to enter and get 4-5 tickets in return (the numbers seem to dwindle each year). All tickets get you into the paddock, with the possible exception of Castle Combe. None get you the other side of the wire to take photos, which is the big benefit of the media pass.
As far as cars are concerned, all meetings ban private cars from the paddock. And at almost all meetings this is generally ignored by those connected with teams. The higher profile or busy the meeting, the more likely this is to be enforced. Or enforced and then some...despite having a car pass for a Tuscan/British GT meeting and 2 x 20 litre jerry cans full of fuel, I was denied access to our paddock area at Snetterton one year - apparently I was supposed to walk in with them from the public car park... Did make me wonder what the point of issuing car passes was if the security staff ignored them anyway....
I doubt you will get a car into the Donington paddock without a vehicle pass as the security staff there are quite 'efficient' and the paddock will also be pretty full. On the other hand there is parking immediately outside the paddock entrance, so its not that big a deal.
It often depends who you get at the gate and what mood they are in.
I'm afraid I don't have any spare tickets for Donington myself and will have to buy extra tickets just to get mechanics in. Which does grate a little after paying a £1,250 entry fee!

The tuscan will out at donny for the first time. Matt and i will look after you over the weekend if you can get some photo's before i go out on track that would be good as my reputation with freshly painted cars is not too clever!!!!!!!!!!
Will be at all of the meets early so will have a chance to get promo shots before you even start the qualification laps. 
One of the things George and I will be doing is trying to get some still shots of all the cars and drivers and as I am the lesser experienced at the fast bits I will try to cover this as much as I can.
Now have agreements with Guillotine and KG55 so thanks guys.

I think you will find that everyone in general will help you out where possible ( even if only cups of tea and a biscuit from time to time and tickets!) as utimately you are supporting us.
