Mclaren screwed up sure but the third place was technically theirs. Wether Trulli thought Hamilton had let him passed or Trulli had overtaken of his own accord the rules state that Trulli was NOT allowed to repass Hamilton under the safety car.
The FIA have conveniently forgotten this as they are too busy once again having a feeding frenzy over Mclaren.
The FIA are extremely unedyfying to watch rather like a school bully picking on the odd kid at school.
Some people stand around and let it happen whilst others step in and put things right.
I want to put things right.

Nice one for good initiative, but we all know what the FIA think of the fans, and the teams (bar Ferrari, of course). The fans didn't want to see winner takes all instead of points, and neither did the teams, who presented a much simpler way of deciding the champ, but no, they went ahead and did it anyway, only to have "forgotten" their own rule that the teams must unanimously (sp?) agree, which they didn't.
Unfortunately, until Bernie and Spank are out, McLaren will always be the FIA's whipping boys to dish out pointless punishments to ages after the race is over, conveniently handing the advantage to Maranello. But think of it this way, it just made Lewis' 2008 victory much sweeter, and hopefully when McLaren get their rear aero package sorted, they will stick two fingers up to the establishment once more.

Probably needs rewording from McLaren to all teams - easy to forget the unjust penalty on Boudais for Massa - so it will seem biased from British fans which just won't cut it.
I still say it's a banner campaign at whatever GP you go to. They get on TV for a start and witty ones usually get a special mention... Yes, I'm plotting for the British GP already! The bummer for the FIA is that I'm there for all 3 days too.

Oh yes the Penalty on Bourdais.. hmm an unjust penalty that beneffited Ferrari...who would have thought it?

So you agree with the principal that the World Championship is decided by words said off track rather than by the physical position of the racecars on the track.Lets just scrap the expense of putting the cars on the track and have a fantasy league where finishing positions are decided first by random selection and then by lawyers arguing.
It looked like both Trulli and Hamilton finished according to interpretation either 3rd or 4th but due to the post race comedy hour both have been subject to penalties.
I can only hope the FIA see fit to remove Hamiltons Penalty as quickly as they reinstated Trulli.
The FIA have admitted he was put in a difficult position by his team so the question has to remain.. why was Hamilton personally punished.

At what point does lying become a punishable crime in itself? Trying to gain an advantage? Schumi did so to stop a penalty, which is about not getting a disadvantage, therefore, to maintain the advantage he gained over his competitors. If nothing else, if you're going to knowingly omit crucial information to try and 'steal' a position doing it AFTER going on record (pit/car radio and press interviews) with a different story should get you a kicking for stupidity!
