Couldn't agree more - EJ is the biggest mistake that the BBC have made.
All the rest are fine and starting to mould slowly into a good team, but that interview was painful to watch
Oh, and when is someone going to tell EJ that BrawnGP IS NOT A NEW TEAM FFS!!!!!
It is a new name, the guys are the same that have been there for years, the car you see is thanks to 15 months of hard work, blood sweat and tears from everyone at the team. Honda have financed that development, Mercedes have given them a fine motor and Brawn has rescued the team.

I reckon Bernie would be an utter nightmare to interview, especially for someone who's not a journalist. He seems to revell in giving curt, brief answers to complicated questions that the journalist has spent hours working on. Usually this makes it quite humorous but hell for the interviewer 
I posted about this in another thread, but basically the interview was very laboured and full of silent pauses. It was a poo interview and the topics raised were poo. Having said that, I didn't watch it all, I fast forwarded about 1/2 way through. Almost wanted an advert to cut it off!

Yes, I'd imagine that a professional TV interviewer would know zip about F1 and struggle. However, Eddie should just be able to hold a regular conversation with Bernie, with a few, "oh come on Bernie, you're taking the piss" here and there if he was not absolutely petrified of him. That should be good enough for us F1 followers.I cannot remember a single instance.

Either that, or EJ was trying to be a professional interviewer rather than a bloke who had been around F1 for a while having a chat with the fuhrer and having nothing to lose.
IMO, EJ was bricking it, and not because of the cameras. And Brundle is pretty ineffective in the same way when faced with the Bernie. We need Paxman or Piers Morgan for that stuff.... actually, maybe not, stick to EJ.

Have to agree with motormania. EJ's columns for F1 magazine showed a man woefully out of touch with F1 even just two years after his involvement ended. Those columns also smacked of a man that, whilst a player in the politics when he had Jordan F1, didn't understand those politics and was just a lucky chancer who in all likelihood got what he wanted because others simply let him.
Which isn't a criticism of EJ or what he managed to achieve for a while, but when he is a pundit who is meant to be using that knowledge to conduct insightful interviews you have to say that even a fan with a only a casual knowledge of the sport can see Jordan is out of his depth. In terms of current knowledge of the regs, past knowledge of the sport, a full understanding of the sport in general and, to be honest, intellect.
Yes Brundle is often little more than cheeky toward the Silver Dwarf and is surely a sign HE is the one to be truly feared not Spanky, but at least Brundle has a very good insight into the sport. EJ was like a fourteen year old girl interviewing a member of Take That. It felt like he knew nothing about F1 beyond the deal that took Schumacher out his team. It was actually worse than the piece in the Guardian after Spankgate by a journalist who knew nothing about Max and his role in F1, stating he was a nice man who was misunderstood!

There was a Dutch(?) bloke once who managed to get Bernie to say "I'm not prepared to answer that". Really put him on the spot. I can only guess the cloggiee didn't know who he was. It was on you-tubeI cannot remember a single instance.

I think EJ has a fundamentally different approach to F1 than many of the other F1 team pryncipals.
I think he worked out early on that there were certain people within F1 who he had to keep on side for the team to be a success.
Rather than fight against everybody as Stoddart did he played a much smarter move by keeping Bernie and Max on side.
There is no way that Bernie would be interviewed by anybody else.
