Nissan Reveal 2010 GT-R Race Car

This is the first glimpse of Nissan’s 2010 entry into the top level FIA GT1 racing series.

The car won’t make its competitive debut until next season, but the new NISMO tuned Nissan GT-R GT1 car will take part in a few shakedown tests this year. British company Gigawave MotorSports will run a non-championship entry in conjunction with NISMO in four of the 2009 season races to check and help develop the car.

looks very good to me, hopefully more competition and not too much dominant over a seasons racing

Porsche won't, because they don't make a GT1 car, Corvette won't, because they are focussing on GT2 now and the works GT1 cars are sadly dinosaurs now. Nissan has joined the party at the wrong time really, nothing to race against but some privateer Corvettes, possibly a couple of old privateer Astons, though most seem to have retired, some ageing Saleens and a new Ford GT.

Looks like GT2 will be the new GT1 and GT3 will be the new GT2 before too long - its going to be like that in the States already for some of the rounds at least

Not sure if I'm going to Silverstone this year but if Godzilla will be back racing then I'm definitely going!

Talkabout turning up to a black tie event dressed in a clown outfit! Not only is GT1 effectively dead as of the end of this year, I also doubt a two wheel drive Datsun is going to be that great anyway. The brillance of the GT-R has always been it's 4 wheel drive and steer system which are both banned in all classes of GT....although this will presumably help with the weight issues of the GT-R.

that's sad news, the aston/corvette competition has been epic.

Looks fast while standing still. Kudos to Nissan for picking up their game. I think it would've been better if they've built a GT2 car where there will be more action in the coming years.

As I understand it, the car isn't strictly a GT1 car, nor was it ever intended to be so - 2009 is simply a shake-down season to put some miles on it and provide some publicity. As to Le Mans, I think Gigawave have this base covered...
