Just been asked in the office "Has there ever been a british drivers 1 - 2 at the british GP", didn't know the answer so I thought I'd ask the font of Knowledge that is PH.

Quick scan on wiki tells us yes

eg. Coulthard/Irvine were 1/2 at the 1999 British GP. I think that's the most recent time, I'm sure they'd be more instances 1950-1998 but I haven't looked.

Yes. 1958. Won by Peter Collins, Mike Hawthorn second, Roy Salvadori 3rd and Stuart Lewis Evans 4th. All Brits
