That will only be from the F1 side, he's officially going to be heading up the road car side. Something which has been spoken about for ages and this I guess will be the official announcement.

Daily Express in melodramatic paper selling headline. wink

If that were so, and Dennis were leaving the racing team altogether, then it would be part of a deal with Mosley. If there were a deal agreed now, then the WMSC verdict would be agreed in advance of the actual hearing of evidence. If that were so, then the public would be unlikely ever to hear all the evidence, as it might be in conflict with the verdict.

Much as I support Ferrari it is a shame Ron has to go this way after all be has achieved with the team.

It would be good if he took over from Eddie Jordan on the coverage and really let rip smile

You really have an axe to grind with the FIA don't you?
What evidence to you have to support this amazing libel?

I thought this was old news, he handed the F1 bit over the Whitmarsh on March 1, so he could concentrate on the new car business. Now is he saying that he did not really hand over to Whitmarsh (meaning he can be the fall guy) but that now he is going to or is he leaving the McLaren group??

I just don't know what to think....

One can't argue with that.

Mind you, there was a very strong rumour that there was an agreement that Ron had to promise to leave McL in order for his team not to be excluded following the Stepneygate FiAsco. In the end, for some reason, Mossy was forced into, what to him must have been, a humiliating photocall outside McLaren HQ where he had to admit that McLaren did not use any material from the technical details Stepney offered them. That was the highlight of a terrible year for me. And, of course, there was the rejection of the findings written in legal language but, for a change, quite clear in its intent.

If Ron has gone then at least he's gone for something that his team and not he did. It was a major error on behalf of McLaren. They obviously knew Mossy was out to get them after Stepneygate so why supply ammunition?

He might see it as a cheap way to negotiate out of this issue and then possibly get the FIA scrutiny off the team for a while as it seems he only has to 'symbolically' leave a team he's already stepped away from.

You really are a 'tad' slow on the uptake, aren't you, DoR?! You have been well informed there is no axe to grind from prior posts. Now for goodness sake, for all involved, learn from your past mistakes, if that's possible.

Don't think that is libel....

And deals behind closed doors (it is a quasi-judicial authority after all) would reflect reality. They aren't perfect by a long chalk, but backroom deals have always been done that never see the light of day. It happens in real courts as well via plea bargains, and the mechanics of those deals are never made public. Justice only has to be seen to be done?

Exactly - what should any decision have to do with Anthony Hamilton. Who would he be without Mclaren. Also looks like he's been scheming with Spanky

Do you think it was Dennis who exposed Spanky? Seems like payback to me as Spanky did say he knew who set-him up.

Shame to see a Dennis go this way, but if its for the team he loves, that makes him even more of a legend.

Too right, what an absolute ingrate Anthony Hamilton is looking by these statements. McLaren and in particularly Ron Dennis, have spent millions of pounds guiding his son's career to become World Champion and at the first sign of a bit of trouble (and there is no getting away from the fact this whole "liegate" is just a minor storm in a tea cup that has been blown up to feed certain people's ego's and agenda's) he's off siding with the most hated man in sport!
