Anyone going this weekend?

I'm a little confused as to which day to go..... probably let the weather choose.....

"On Saturday we are holding the Harewood Open meeting, featuring a wide range of road and race cars including Ferrari, Westfield and Triumph, amongst our usual Peugeot, Lotus, Mitsubishi EVO and Porsche cars etc.

On Sunday the British Hillclimb Championship will hold two rounds of the national championship, featuring top drivers and powerful single seater race cars. The event is also a round of the Hillclimb Leaders Championship. No fewer that four British champions will be competing at the event. Reigning British champion Scott Moran (and Harewood hill record holder) and former champion Martin Groves are currently fighting for the championship lead in their super fast Gould single seater race cars. The event will also feature a strong entry of single seater race cars from giant beating North Yorkshire constructor OMS.

In addition to the races, there will be a host of attractions off track for visitors including Daniel Lloyd’s Clio Cup race car, St James’ School Greenpower racer, road car displays, kiddies go karts and play area plus other great displays."

if you want to watch some of the fastest guys on the hills in some extremly powerful single seaters (6-700bhp) then go on sunday.

Both Martin and Scott have been trading hill records over the last couple of years.

plus there'll be the usual mix of cars in the other classes. and there'll be alot to get in during the day - 2 practice runs plus a timed run, and a top 12 run off (where the fastest 12 cars get another run at the hill - this is to score points in the British Hillclimb) then a second timed run, plus the final Top 12 to finish.

Is there camping available at this site for marshals?

I was originally not planning on doing any during May as I've not had work for a while, but it's looking up so I may spend a few pennies on petrol & beer and head over.

yip, theres plenty of (free) camping for Marshals and Drivers. Usually a few marshals camp over, as well as plenty of drivers.

Also usually there'll be a beer voucher given out at sign on for a quick drink at the bar after the meeting.

I saw that, but it was easier to ask Lord Summerisle as I know he does a few of these and would know the score.

Looks like I may be up for it then - what's the local area like for food in the evening?

This is only a few miles from home. Gutted I have epic revision for exams this weekend. Part-time learning is a sh*tter...

well, Weatherby is just down the road - has a Morrisons, if you want to BBQ yourself/need more beer.

or else i believe it has plenty of take aways.

Wetherby Morrisons does a great line in fresh fruit and veg. HTH.

Glad to see someone has been looking at the website! At least my efforts don't go unread, although I rarely author the pages, just post them. Both days should be good, don't let any weather spoil it.

Just waiting for confirmation about a 2 month piece of work in Melbourne and can then decide if this is going to be my last event for a while

Great day today, the weather spoiled it a bit but sliding up the Hill is always fun

I hope all that made it have had a good time, thank you too the guys and gals in Orange You had a fairly busy day but kept things going.
