Oulton Park Spectating

Never been to Oulton Park before so was looking for some advice as to the best place on the circuit for spectating

Depends what track really but the top of cascades is good as you see old hall,the avenue,cascedes and then fosters if its the short track then knickerbrook or they cary on to the full track and you see them coming into knickerbrook chicane or park at the top of hill top on the outside and you see old hall again and closer to the chicane or fosters. Druids now has a new viewing area on the inside and water tower is a very quick part and you'r quite close to the track there.

If its for the touring cars in two weeks time i recommend 'knickerbrook'. Spent the whole race there last year.

What he said. Not only that but if you come up the side road you might be able to park there as well. You know. Just incase of rain, you can watch from the car.

It's only a short walk from Cascades to Knicker so you can mix and match

Unfortunately not mate. Best option to be honest is to hang around until the queues have died down. Watch for the police as well - there are plenty of places to hide a speed camera on those twisty lanes;)

What he said, definitely worth it for one race or qualifying session, although perhaps not the whole day, as the view is a bit limited compared to some other places.

I grew up 15 mins from Oulton. I know a useful back road into the place which I'll relay if you drop me an email. I'd recommend Knickerbrook for spectating, but standing above Cascades is a great place to see the really quick cars. They're threading the eye of a needle going down into Cascades and the entry speeds in F3 (for example) are epic. I'll be heading down for my first BTCC event there since the late 1990s next weekend. Really looking forward to it actually. The place is looking fantastic since MSV took over.

The past couple of years they have blocked access from a lot of the back roads on race day so the shortcut might not work.

Is this just for BTCC? I haven't seen it for any other meetings. That is uber-gay. Will try and get there early to dodge the crowds anyway - there's a lovely drive over from my parents' house to enjoy before the queues.

The backroad was open for the BSB so I dont see why it wont be for the BTCC.

There isnt really a bad to place to stand TBH. Every cornor is great to stand at and has some great action.

Inside

Old hall-cascades is great for first lap.

Clay hill to druids is great for mid race battles.

Lodge for the last lap dash etc.

Outside (knickerbrook)

Clay hill-see the battling at Knickerbrook and the exit

Ditto for the exit of knickerbrook.

Further round (towards the end of the big fence) You can see them come down the Avenue into cascades, up lakeside, down hill top, into kinickerbrook and out again.

Even further road and you come to Island hairpin/foulstons which is always good for close racing!!

I'd love to spectate at the Shell Oils hairpin, but it's been a no go area (certainly for BSB meets) since my first visit there in 2001.

Hilltop aint bad as you're fairly close to the action, and can see the racing down Cascades and into Island Bend. The outside of Clay Hill is excellent (but get an early spot; it gets busy). My personal favourite is on the outside of Lodge as you see them piling out of Druids, and along the next straight, which gives you a really good idea of how bumpy it is. Failing that, go into the woods just after the exit of Druids on the left. The noise is awesome as it reverberates in the trees - similar to Dingle Dell at Brands.
