Suggestions for a new Motorsport series

So... a whole new series, lets hear what you want.




I reckon a 50's/60's style F1.

No wings, normally aspirated engines, small and narrow 500kg cars with 500bhp. Manual gearboxes with foot-operated clutches.

Car's are safer now, so I'm sure they wouldn't be as dangerous as before (Except for the spectators )

I seem to recall reading that many of the spectator deaths were a result of poor crowd control rather than a problem with the cars, per se.

Bring it back!

You sound shocked, but you have to remember, I'm a fking genius.

Seriously though, MOTOGP bikes actually have a fuel consumption limit on them, and it creates some interesting scenarios even though it's quite generous at something like 20mpg. Ratchet that down a bit... in cars, and you'd have an interesting race.

I like this idea. Its a more tactical game and being in pole position wouldn't always be an advantage. We need a motorsport with more technology to filter down into the more basic and affordable models. It would also pave the way for lighter everyday family cars instead of the monsters currently available.

Back to the good old days. Wasn't it 2L Normally aspirated and 1.5l Turbo'd cars?. Ofcourse nowadays it would probably have to be 5 litres normally aspirated compared to 1.5L turbo cars.

Or just sod it all no limits on the size and power of the engines lets see what modern day engineering can actually make given no restrictions at all!.

How about Scrap Heap Challenge where the 'scrap heap' contains bits from F1, WRC etc and the teams are pro race teams. It would be a case of building whatever you wanted to get round a track as fast as possible.

That could lead to some very interesting cars. And crashes...

TATA NANO one make series - you could build a full car for 5K and though they wouldnt be fast i bet they'd be fun!

High budget cap
Rules: Vehicles must run on max. 105 octane fuel
Have minimum of 4 wheels
Be no bigger than xm long and ym wide
Have appropriate safety features (roll cage, fire extinguisher, helmets, etc)


Reasonably priced day tickets
MAXIMUM season ticket price 50% the total of a season's worth of day tickets

Ring-taxi type rides on the circuit as part of the day's entertainment.
Raffle a drive round the track (not in the actual racing cars, but something like an elise)
Race on saturday, track day sunday.

Yes most racing spec cars can now withstand head on collisions with trees at 90mph.

I would like to see group B back as well. Maybe a better choice of "safe" track would be the solution?
