I'm struggling to believe that multi-millionaires & their colleagues/rivals are dumb enough to have employed the kind of legal people likely to misinterpret the forms they were filling in. Nor do I think that they are unaware of the consequences of attaching extra bits to their applications.
Thus I'm forced to the conculsion that 9 teams want a way out of F1.

The latest is just the same old. The World Motor Sport Council can change the terms whenever they like, so these guys will deal or not regardless of the artificial 29th May deadline.
The interesting position is the Commercial Rights Holder's, the one now located between a rock and a hard place.
We don't know exactly what FOTA have asked for, but I'd guess that Mosley's objections are less to do with the timing of the cap and other details of actual racing (to which he has seemed for years to be indifferent) and mostly to do with future "governance".

Yep. Max's increased meddling over the last cpl of seasons have been all about positioning himself as Bernie's replacement in effectively running the sport. The FIA has become about Max, not about the FIA. Its been about convincing Bernie's commercial partners that he is the right man to replace Bernie. Max cannot replace Bernie. The FiA is banned from taking any interest in the financial aspects of F1.
