I'll be watching the one with the best teams / drivers / cars, would prefer it to be none spanky\dwarf based to allow races where the fans want them rather than politicians and to remove the personal grudge element of the current management

A separate FIA series would effectively be F2. Everyone knows that the main teams and drivers are the ones to follow.

Might as well just watch GP2 then. That's probably Max's "last stand"- to elevate GP2 & just call it F1.

GP2 is not an FIA championship, its a Bernie & Flav creation, it's relative success on tv (in the UK until it disappeared to the obscurity of Setanta), on track, it's cost and doubtless jealousy from the FIA by GP2 becoming the de facto feeder series resulted in the FIA creating F2, but I get you're point rename F2, and just call it F1.

F1 was run to formula 2 regs in 1952 and 1953 (dates approximate only) because of a lack of teams on the grid for F1. It was not a total success, being something of a ferrari benefit as they were the only ones with cars then. As pointed out, there is no real F2 nowadays, they are all spec fomulas.

The FOTA Grand Prix series MUST be on terrestrial TV. If they go with Sky then obviously it will be on one of the Sports channels (subscription) and most likely the races will be only available on a pay-per-view basis (yet more subscription). This is how it was when Sky had the rights to the digital broadcasts (in IIRC 2002?) from Bernie TV.

If FOTA's Grand Prix championship is on a subscription only service then I for one will not be watching it, as I would not be able to justify the extra expense.

Voted for both - I will give them a chance to start with, but I'm not paying to watch motorsport on TV - that's why I don't bother with A1GP or whatever it is called, as IIRC it's on Sky.

Most of the FOTA members have said that their version will be "the peoples F1" whatever that means, with any luck, that means terrestrial.
