I've just finished watching this on BBC4 and the one thing that came to the forefront of of mind as I watch this guy conquer the world as a driver, businessman, development engineer and eventually as a team owner, was Max Mosely's ludicrous description of him as "certifed halfwit".
Obviously, it says lots more about Mosely himself than Stewart but if the film pops up on iPlayer it's well worth catching.

Presumably referring to the tartan trousers and matching hat Stewart wears to GPs, the President of the FIA added, “He goes round dressed up as a 1930s music hall man. He's a certified halfwit.”

Can't remember exactly where I read this but in response to Mosley's reference to Jackie Stewart as a "half-wit in comedy trousers" the response - well ..... at least they're still around his waist! was priceless.
Having just watched this documentary and seen all the highs and lows that Jackie Stewart went through during his racing career it beggars belief that the current President of the World governing body could refer to a former champion in this way.
Can't think of another sport that would allow this to happen.

I let my son stay up to watch the Jackie Stewart programme and had a hard time trying to answer his questions as to why so many drivers had died, why were there so many cars burning etc.
It was the 1st time he had been exposed to this period of the sport and it was as much an eye opener for him as it was for me watching my son's reaction to what was being shown on screen and coming to terms with the reality that the sport did and unfortunately can still cost lives.
For me the programme served as reminder that what went on in the past can and maybe should serve as a reminder for the future.
All of this FOTA / CVC / FIA shenanigans just seems so petty when taken in the context of the history of the sport that established the sound foundations for today's sport, business, circus or call it what you will.
Just a shame that the forward progress of the technical and safety aspects of the sport have been inversely proportional to the morals of the key players involved.
