Ear protector / muff / defender for baby

I'm taking my little one (9 months) to Silverstone for the free Renault event in a couple of weeks time. My other half has suggested that my daughter might need some ear protection when we are there. Previous experience at these events suggests that she might be right! Does anyone have any experience / recommendations to share?

Peltor do kids ear defenders - I got a set for my 2YO for spectating at hillclimbs, etc. Got them off ebay (eg, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peltor-Kids-Ear-Defender-Pin...

Yep Peltor all the way. I got mine from ebay a while back. They come in dayglo green and bright pink..

As above, the Peltor Kid comes highly recommended. You will need them for World Series..

The world series cars are only slightly quieter than the GP2/F1 cars IMO. I'd say definately invest in the best pair of ear defenders you can afford for the little'un.

Another vote for Peltor ear defenders. Use them at work and they are very good

GP2 cars are 600 horsepower 4 litre Renault V8's with limited ground effects. IIRC the World series cars are 3.5 litre V8 Renaults with limited aero packages.

Its clearly your call, but neither of my children would have been happy clamped in ear 'fenders for any length of time at that age, and to expose sensitive young ears to possible damage without them doesn't sound very sensible.

I'd be calling in favours from grandparents etc.

Well obviouasly that's a good point. If she's not enjoying it then we won't stay. I live the near the circuit so it's hardly a big day out for me.

Anyway, got to instil that motor racing love early on. She has already watched every GP (on TV) since she was born.

The last time I took a child to a race meeting (they were about 4 & 6 rtespectively), they hated the noise & ended up crying when the EuroBoss cars started racing. And that was with ear protection. Ears are extraordinarily sensitive to damage and I doubt that there's any ear protection designed for a baby. Ear protection has to fit properly to work!

Just thought I'd post an update. I bought the Peltor 'Kids' ear defenders and they were perfect for the job. They fit over my daughter's head very snugly and saved her from any discomfort while watching the 3.5s or the F1 car. In fact , they were so effective that I don't think she could hear the 2.0 cars at all (she didn't look up as they passed by).
