From the statement it looks very much like Max is trying to shift the goalposts again. But that is only one side of the argument. I would guess that it was one 'tense' meeting.
Time to move on. Like a divorce, you try your hardest to make it work but sometimes as painful as it may be you have to part. F1 is history, long live the sucessor.

Sure, this is tedious, but it's also hilarious.
FOTA won last month's battle on pretty much every issue, because they had much more of value to the others than the others had of value to FOTA. Mosley got a bit bent out of shape because the truth that we all knew was at last spoken openly. He could not resist climbing back on his high horse for one last charge. The only problem is that the balance of power has not changed - FOTA still controls most of the value. If Mosley thinks that an FIA with him as president but without a genuine Formula One will mean much to anyone, he may be in for a rude surprise.

This is good for FOTA. If there was no disturbance between the June agreement and the end of the season, they could've been lulled into complacency and ambushed by Mosley right before the election/start to the '10 season without alternative plans. This way the teams will stay paranoid, keep their plans for the breakaway going, and preserve their power. I think that we want this problem to stay around so the WMSC get absolutely fed up with Mosley and the constant threat of having F1 eviscerated of its most historic teams/manufacturers, not to mention the prestige of their membership. Now that Vatanen has thrown his hat into the ring, FOTA has someone to start using to persuade FIA members away, by hopefully, painting a much brighter picture of the future than what has been otherwise offered to them.

The politics are getting pathetic, have been for some time. Every race weekend is over shadowed by something. Max just doesn't want to leave having been defeated. I don't want a breakaway, there will be no history. No previous winners. It won't be the series that Fangio, Senna, Prost and Shumacher won multiple times. IMHO it won't be the same as it has been in previous years.
