Some 'different' types of motorsport

I do a lot of motorsport photography and really want to try my hand at something different then just on track stuff.

I am doing a rally soon but I want something a bit different just to see weather they would make intresting pictures or not!

Venues would be lovely as well but I can use google

Bonus points for the being in or around cheshire!

theres the pageant of power in a couple of weeks.

there you'll get the track action with the cars n bikes, plus the power boats on the lake, the air display, and the tank display so something different to photograph.

plus the lake is small enough that a good lens will get so excellent shots - the kind of thing you'll have already if at tracks

Tractor pulling is quite spectacular. Especially at night when you can see through the turbos and there are blue flames coming out of the exhausts.

Quite tricky to get good photos of IME - between the dust, big safety fences and relatively chaotic fast-paced action it can make things a bit difficult. Good fun for something different all the same though.

Karting can be an interesting one if you go to one of the nicer circuits.

Get to Santa Pod for some drag racing (bit far though). Or try Three Sisters in Wigan for some kart action. IIRC there's a stock car track of some kind in Stoke too. We used to go and see the RAC Rally when I lived in Cheshire before it went Welsh. Loton Park is good fun for hillclimbs too and just near Shrewsbury.

Auto-cross, or whatever it's called where the drivers whizz round a small course around cones, etc.

The fast boats run supercharged big-blocks and will hit 60mph in about 2 seconds.

Don't forget there is a drag strip at York too.

Water skiing always looks spectacular, as does freestyle jetski.

Try looking up all the local motoring clubs and seeing what they have on, wether it be shows or actual sport events. There are loads of clubs that will do events like trialling, rallying, track events etc and probably a few random circuits that you never knew about.

Class 1 offshore powerboats?

The Cowes - Torquay - Cowes race will be running from 28th - 30th August. Get yourself out to the Needles fairway & there will be some great action as they hit the swell in the channel at 80 / 90kts plus.
