Fantasy Race tracks/ Hillclimbs.

Following on from the street circuits thread, I thought this would be an interesting one.

Where do you think would make a good circuit, sprint track or hillclimb?

I give you the Aynho, Oxfordshire, Hillclimb.



Google maps, put in the start and the finish and direction arrows.

I'm cheating here as this bit of road is already used as part of a rally stage. Absobloodylutely fantastic though, hello lock-stops!

Brassknocker Hill, south of Bath, would be awesome for hillclimbs. Chedar gorge is too wide.

I'll put up my Bristol GP course tonight....

Aaah, local to where I grew up.

Or, starting at the Traffic lights at the bottom of Brassknocker, go across the canal towards Warminster. All the way to the top of the hill. Quite entertaining in a Morris 1000, probably too wide for a Hillclimb though. It's amazing the difference that sticking to your own side of the road makes. It can make an interesting road seem mundane if you use the other side too. I'll post Brassknocker when photobucket wakes up.

Brassknocker. The corners halfway up are sharper than on the map picture. Good call Pablo.

Granted it's no Doune Hillclimb.

as for the route... (basically just up Cliff Road)
Start where the tourist bus turns around at the bottom , easy access to two car parks (paddocks)then race all the way up the gorge. Should be easy enough to shut off for a weekend too. I have seen it shut for some festivities before.

Cheddar was closed off before for downhill skateboard racing so hopefully cars will be allowed.

It is a possibility as it's actually a Private Road!!

Unfortunately the Financial aspect of closing it would be too great to make it commercially viable.

Would be a great Fantasy course though!!

Anyone who has been to the Nurburgring will be aware of the Nordshliefe (sp), but less known is the run from Adenau up to the road that runs parallel to the long back straight. It is entertaining on a motorbike, and would be amazing in a full hillclimb car.



Thoroughly recommended on any 'ring trip.

If they can manage the hairpin at Longleat, those hairpins will be no problem whatsoever. They aren't as sharp as they look on that map, that's what would make it so good!!!
