Camping for the 500

hey just a question regarding the 500. just wondered is there specific camping areas or can you camp anywhere round the circuit??

White Rabbit Racing did a camp last year and it was very successful. I believe there are plans to do the same this year.

Yes we will be doing the Britcar camp again this year. Information will be available on the website and forums in due course. Looking forward to it.

Camp will be directly behind the start/finish grandstands and campers will have the added benefit of being able to bring their cars INSIDE the pay line and therefore navigate the inner perimeter road for quick access to different viewing spots. The general public will have to park outside the entrance and it's then quite a walk to the pit/grandstand areas.

ETA - Bugger, just seen its 2-4th Oct which is Thursday through Saturday. Is this right? I thought there'd be far more spectator interest if this was Friday through Sunday ?

I don't know what's happening on the 2nd. Probably just when competitors etc can turn up.

Camp will be available from Midday Friday to Sunday evening. Our team will be leaving site at around 6pm.

I will have a word with him upstairs re. the weather however, the first couple of weeks in October are usually pretty reliable. They certainly have been the last couple of years. Just much cooler after dark clearly!

I hope we get as nice a crowd as we had last year. We had such a great time running the camp which was filled with friendly people having a good time. Yes the weather helped but so did the people!

But the 4th is Saturday. Which means there's no racing Sunday. Or am I missing something?

Last year was great BTW, like a small Le Mans reminder. Great camp site, decent people and bloody good weather.

Is it possible to book camping on the day if we are interested in camping? Im unsure as to whether I would be staying or not yet but it would help to know if this is an option.

As for the camping pitches on the standard camping site, how big a tent are we allowed, so if 5people are coming are we allowed a 5man or bigger tent, a reply soon would be great so we can book!!! thanks very much

Yes you can. But you'd have to park up, come round to the camp to find us to get a car pass issued to get in first.
