As for animals and motor sport, anyone remember what happened to one poor rider when he hit a horse during the Isle of Man TT in the 1980s?

Reminds me of the occasion, many years ago, when a couple of us from here went to have some "discussions" (OK, troll... ) on the Horse & Hounds website, following a couple of stories about accidents with horses and bikers sliding on the 'deposits' from said animals.

After an initially very aggressive series of responses - the usual thing where we were greeted insults, claims that we were totally ignorant and knew nothing, the usual web-forum type stuff - to the threads we had created they did calm down and take on board the points we were making about road-safety for *other* road users, not just them on their nags. Took a while though.

I wonder if she feels the same way about horse racing? How many horses are killed/put down every year in that sport in comparison to the huge numbers killed in motorsport?

Car races are the dullest, most unneccessary, air-poluting thing on the planet. The horse had a right to walk there it's his natural home. Cars driving madly fast are not at home there I'd say.

man these do gooders do your head in. so its ok for them to drive miles around in there big trucks with horses in ? and i just spent 5 minutes writing the best comment on there to shup them all up and internet crash

They really make no sense wouldn't a horse run if it heard rally cars going by all day ? and if its on the road wouldn't natural feelings tell it to run when from miles of it hears this big fast thing moving towards it?
