Here's a link that may help - bear in mind it relates to this year not next. But I assume things will be similar.

Reading around on the site it looks like they plan to swap to the new G40 for 2010 so I would imagine that the cost of the car will increase even if the racing fees don't. And then there are parts and repairs. And travel and accomodation.

Karts are great aren't they .... ? wink

There is one road legal, but it isn't exactly a junior. More a GTC, and it is mine!

nice car, how much work did you have to do to it to make it road legal?

It never started out as a race car, it was built as a road car from the off. It has had a hell of a lot of work done to the components ginetta supplied as it always had the brief of being a proper car, ie second skin doors, with proper door reveals, seals, locks, handles, german style clunk when you shut the door etc. Each door took over a month of work prior to spraying! It also runs a V6 duratec with cosworth running gear which is anything but standard. It has full bespoke interior, wide track suspension... the list goes on.

The point i am making is yes, you could quite easily make a junior road legal and put it through an IVA test; but they are pretty raw in the fit and finish department, and lacking in power output. To do that ^ is a very different task which you should allow about four years of your life for!

It seems there are going to be quite a few junior cars for sale at the end of the season if the car has been replaced, could be time to pick up a bargain?

Have to say if ginetta can sell the G40 road car at 25k they are onto a winner....

What ever happened to the Clan Cruiser that was going to be under £20,000?

Ginetta are currently offering a Ginetta Junior scholarship, offering a free drive in next years Ginetta Junior Championship. The link is here: http://www.ginettacars.com/scholarship/ might be worth a look if you're still interested in getting your son into karting.
