Vote for the new FIA President

As most of you will know Max Moseley is standing down shortly as President of the FIA and there will be an election between Jean Todt and Ari Vatanen to determine the new President.

The UK MSA has a vote in this election on behalf of all UK competition licence holders. Please let the MSA know who you wish to replace Moseley by e-mailing them here: [e-mail]

I agree but I think the Licence holders views should be taken in to account and the hierarchy of the MSA should be held to account if they ignore the views of their constituency

Graham Stoker is MSA Motor Sports Council Chairman and MSA Executive Committee Chairman.

No, but they should know how their membership feel. What right do they have to vote for Todt if the MSA licence holders don't want that? Shouldn't the MSA have canvassed opinion first?

I know that Stoker is one of Todt's men, but it all stinks & the MSA should know who its members actually would prefer.

I'd be happier with an online system - at least them you could monitor the votes had gone up by 1 for whoever you vote for!

They should know how their membership feel. Even more so, they should care how their membership feel. Does either apply in reality?

In the contractual sense they must be free to vote however they like, with the members' direct views unavoidably coming into play only at the next MSA election...when it's too late...

Maybe I missed something, but last year I did not see the MSA expressing great curiosity about whether its members believed that Mosley should receive MSA support in the "vote of confidence". Do you think that might be because Mosley was tight with certain people at the MSA, who did not want to raise the question lest the members' feelings be contrary to their own wishes? No, no. They did not canvass members on that question for purely administrative reasons.

As Garcia points out, Mosley is responsible for the current spate of dastardly happenings as he is in ultimate charge. He is the one who allowed the conflict of interest, he is the one who allowed such poor supervision, he is the one who ensured that piquet, in his tortured struggle with his conscience, had nowhere to turn. He is the one who oversaw a decision of the court which has been largely condemned by the press.

As I say, not much of a chance.

I haven’t looked this up – I’m supposed to be working – but wasn’t Garcia a firm supporter of Mosley’s chosen one, Todt? Is this a parting of the ways?

They have even less of a vote than the MSA in this, but if you are a member of the RAC you can ask them to vote for Vatenen by emailing Karl Ellis at the RAC - [e-mail]

I believe that if you phone the RAC and ask if they are FIA members or not, they will say that they stopped being members after Max got caught with his pants down... and a thermometer up his butt.

I think they have rejoined - I did get a response that they would take my comments into consideration. After Mosley had the orgy with the girls in German uniforms which had no Nazi connotations they did say they were not members.
