Renault’s F1 season just gets better and better. Having lost its boss, technical director and much of its dignity following the Nelson Piquet crash scandal, the beleaguered F1 team has now lost its title sponsor, ING, with immediate effect.

Insurance conglomerate withdraws its support for Renault F1 team
ING has issued a statement confirming that its decision has been motivated by the 2008 Singapore GP debacle.
The Dutch insurance conglomerate said that "in light of the verdict of the World Motor Sport Council of 21 September 2009 concerning the events that occurred at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, ING will terminate the contract with Renault Formula 1 with immediate effect".
It is no doubt a blow for the team, even though ING already planned to end its presence in F1 at the end of 2009.
Spanish insurance company Mutua Madrilena has also ended its sponsorship of Renault, citing the race-fixing scandal as a breach of contract. The likely departure of Fernando Alonso to Ferrari at the end of the season would of course have had absolutely no bearing on that particular decision…

Seems like F1 is a bit of a joke. Lewis Hamilton mysteriously winning the world Championship on the last lap of the last race after a strange crash, Alonso, bless him, telling the engineers to fuel Hamilton to run out of fuel, team mate told to crash to ensure Alonso gets more points, (or he will throw a tantrum), multi million pound fines for Mclaren but none for Renault. All very strange. bet we will never know the half of it. Oh and no overtaking allowed because it might be a bit dangerous..LOL. Give me MotoGP any day of the week. Completely lost interest in F1. Its become a bit like 'professional wrestling'.

Looking at it the other way, they are now an insurance company that are running away from their financial commitments.I want an insurance company that I could trust to give me a fair payout and not look for a reason in the small print not to pay me.

Nothing to do with any insurance payout, etc - ING are just pulling out of their sponsership deal with the Renalt F1 team.
Could have been the (understandable) action of any sponser... regradless of whether they just happen to be an insurance company or not.
In any case, coming back to insurance companies' working practice... Looking for ANY excuse NOT to pay out is what they do!

There was no mysterious crash that made Lewis win the world championship you spanner, He won because glock was on dry tyres on a soaking wet track and could barely keep it on the road. There was no conspiracy, no race fixing, it was just pure luck. Glocks team mate, in the same car, on the same tyres was also struggling at the time, there were others also struggling badly on the dry tyre at that time it wasn't just Glock who thought i'll let him pass.
The Alonso asking engineers to short fuel hammy also never happened.

All this imo is leading to Renaults exit from F1, there was speculation that they were pulling out at the end of the season before all this, and now with the loss of their sponsorship and a tarnished reputation, theres very little reason to stay in the sport for them.

When did this happen, I havent missed a race for as long as I can remember but I dont recall anybody crashing which then enabled Lewis Hamilton to win a World Championship!! Timo Glock on the other hand did finish last years final round on Dry tyres in the wet which meant he conceeded his 5th place to Hamilton who passed him on Wets.

From the sound of things, what with them chasing Kubica for next season, i think they might just stick around, they new they were losing both sponsors at the end of the season anyway so provisions and new sponsors should have already been made.
What's the betting they now lose next year's sponsors as well?
