Do you think that it was due to your lax behaviour in the past that he thought he would get away with it?
Mosley, you've been in control of F1 since 1994. The sport is now largely processional and your only answer has been to decrease the size of the fuel tanks. Why haven't you been able to sort it out in 25 years?
Mosley, you have pushed up the cost of competing for the teams year after year after year. It has forced many of the teams to the wall. Why didn’t you follow the advice of so many in the know a few years ago and reduce the costs then?
Mosley, when you took over the WRC was one of the national highlights in the countries that it graced. It now is a pale imitation of what you inherited. Why were you such a spectacular failure in its management.
Mosley, a bunch of infighting amateurs manage to keep the Le Mans 24-hours and its siblings an exciting and thrilling event which still generates crowds. Why can't you do the same with the WSC?
Mosley, did you know there was a series called World Touring Cars. Can you tell us why you've allowed it to fall into such a dreadful state?
Mosley, you accuse many people of bringing the sport into disrepute yet you, in buying women to beat for fun, have generated disgust in many. Indeed, unlike their response to Dennis and even Flav, you were actually persona non grata in many countries. Why don't you punish yourself?
Mosley, you have been a failure at everything you've done in life. Do you think you will also be a failure in your choice of successor? Will he be just as incompetent as you. Will it be one disaster after another as it has been under you? Will it be bad press, bad press and even worse press? Will Todt be able to finish your task of bringing each and every motor racing forumla to its knees?
What I find difficult to understand is the sycophantic nature of the press. The Guardian is even more so. Their response after Stepneygate was all but hilarious. Then, at the last race, they went to a dinner in his 'honour'. And, just to rub in that they had no idea of what is right a proper, they bought him a whip.

Is it wrong to think the interview was quiet funny, At least Max had a laugh about the spanking incident? Still a cock?

I agree to a point, certainly from a management point of view, but isnt that just totally narrow minded arrogance to suggest that messing up a sport which has so much public interest (interest which has dwindled due to such bad decisions) is acceptible as long as he can justify it to himself?
Also, a good 20% of that article was regarding his spanking antics; a good 80% of that was light hearted banter regarding it. I struggle to see how such an attitude can be taken bearing in mind the embarrasment it caused to many of those associated with him both publically and privately.
I didnt think much of the man prior to reading the atricle and i think even less of him now. For the record, i also think it was a crap piece of journalism - certainly didnt hit the objective of discussing motorsport and the environment!

If you look at it through the eyes of a megalomaniac, he's been in charge for ever. So my thought was that 25 years is a reasonable mean.Or, of course, I could have made a mistake.
I’m not saying which option is correct. But what I am saying is that 15 years seems an incredibily short time to make so many mistakes.

Unfortunatly for us (the fans who have an interest in the sport as a whole) a journalist who has a chance to interview Max doesn't just want to talk about the sport anymore. He has become a (minor) celebrity on the back of his sex scandal. Every journalist wants their own little unique sound bite from him. The dozy bint that was sent to do this article got hers seemingly when she asked him what would happen if he didn't like this article. Now she will have a little quote to wheel out at social functions and no doubt in further articles that we should have the misfortune to read.I didnt think much of the man prior to reading the atricle and i think even less of him now. As Derek alluded to, there are some serious questions which should be asked of Max, if only the supposed journalists who get a chance to question him would do their research and not refer back to his sexual practices every other question.

I guess the other side of that is reflected in how we approach the subject of Max on PH - we're all supposed to be motorsports fans, yet you can't mention his name without some talk of spanking, or his dad, or some rally in the 50's, or the Mitford girls, or...So if we would rather take the cheap shots, what hope is there that people who are generally less interested in the actual sport should do otherwise?

Many would hate that comment, but all leadership has to be autocratic to an extent, although it would be very convenient, or even fitting, for Max to know that Nietzsche came up with a good quote or two on that.I think this paragraph sums Max up well?

Sounds like the journo didn't know her subject and was completely caught off-guard by his charm. To say he is a failure at everything he's done is not realistic. He may be a relative failure in the F1 world, but compared to the rest of us I'd say he's done ok. I don't think I'd like him, but he has ended up in a position of power and held on to that for some time. I think everyone can agree he's been successful to some extent.

That's pretty much what I was getting at.I agree that there are loads of things we could do with a good explanation of, or at least a different view of the facts. But if you started two threads on here (and remember, we on here are more interested in the sport than the rest of the country is) where one was talking about the governance and sporting issues under Max's watch, and one was talking about his preference for spanking and cellars and his father's political views, which do you think would get more traffic? And do you think the spanking thread would be full of references to sporting incidents, or vice versa?
It's a bad situation, and the fact that no-one can get beyond his private life is surely the main reason he has to go, I just don't think we can criticise journalists for choosing to write the same sort of stuff that we seem to prefer reading.

The trouble with this bit is that people aren't really interested. No new information was included. It's just dragging up a story because it was sensational at the time... Which is lazy journalism if it has no relevance to anything current.It's a bit like saying "You know Princess Diana died, apparently the driver may have been a bit drunk." Old news, nothing to add. And it's not actually relevant to anything that is going on today in the sport or the wider world. Unless she wants to ask the question, "Max, do you feel that journalists constantly asking you about your sex life has detracted attention away from the sport in a detrimental way? Or do you think that the interest in your sex life has added to the interest in the sport, if so, is this interest for the right or the wrong reasons?"
But, I forget, that would be a serious question to ask this almost joke figure at the head of our sport.
