Hey guys, we are looking at staring hillclimbing on a (very small) budget next year.

We are based in Leeds and are going to start with Harewood.

Are there any of the road going prods guys on here? I would be grateful for a bit of steerage in certain aspects. The blue book and the Harewood regs seem a bit awkward.

You may want to try asking at the Hillclimb and Sprint Association's web site. They have an 'ask
an expert' section and are very newbie friendly. (Biased as I am a member) That said there are a few hillclimbers that lurk around these 'ere parts so may as well ask away.

I think Harewood do a track day with advice for those wanting to learn the course. I heard they give good guidance on setup, etc as well?

Harewood is nowhere near me but I am quite familiar with reading (and writing) supplementary regs for speed events so might be able to help.

Oh, and post in the club motorsport section as this one gets clogged up with people speculating about formula one so it's easy to miss posts from people actually wanting to compete rather than watch on the telly.

They do a driving school day which is pretty good, I don't think that'll be running until next year though.

What car do you expect to be running? I've recently had an engine conversion done by Mike Geen (Team Geen Racing) who preps a few cars for Harewood, runs a few and also instructs on the driving school days. If you were looking at the lower classes and Peugeots he'd be a good guy to speak to.

Harewood is a great hill to start at, quite technical but great fun. Which class do you think you will be running in? Harewood scrutes are helpful if you want to know about the regs, but you will have to wait until practice day next March to see them, or get on the Harewood website where there are some contact details. Most will be happy to help. Also try posting on one of the many Harewood threads that are on the Yorkshire section as that is where a lot of the regular Harewood competitors can be found.
