Rallycross @ Mallory Park 18th Oct,

Well I've trawled through various forums and found nothing about this so thought I'd just give a quick 'heads up'. Mallory Park is being used for the first time in donkeys years since Croft got 'owned' by the noise abaitment people and had to cut it's meetings.
The action starts at 9:30am for practice with the first race at 10:20. A total of 41 races up until the finals at about 16:40. This will mean having to sacrifice the F1 but thats what Sky+ is there for.
It's also live on MotorsTV from noon. Tickets are only £15. Looking forward to some flame spitting antics from the Supercars and those RX150's look a right laugh.

Well if that's what Rallycross is all about i'm well and truly converted!!
Great action and the supercars are just fantastic to watch. It's been a long time since i've seen cars so bum clenchingly rapid and "loose" at the same time.
Are all gravels sections of rallycross tracks intended to be as "bumpy" as that at Mallory or is it more a case of the track being a bit new and needing to settle down a bit?
Nice to have the big screen there as well for the TV coverage.
Shame that the post heat / final driver interviews couldn't be patched through to the circuit PA in some shape or fashion but thats just a very minor nitpick and didn't detract from a top days entertainment.
Noticed that the winter series is at Mallory mid Feb 2010. Think i'll be there in my thermals for that one if yesterday was anything to go by.
And back home in time to see JB take the title as well. Great day.

I think Mallory park itself is a gem! I managed to confuse the poor lady on the gate by asking if we could park trackside and she sent us in to the competitor entrance, who then sent us back. Little did I realise that all of the circuit is trackside parking. We got a nice spot by the first gravel section and wandered the entire circuit. A distinct lack of catch fencing aswell was excellent for getting photo's. Mallory for a few bike meets in 2010 is a must.The European Rallycross is confirmed for Lydden Hill May 30/31 next year. There's a clash with Isle of Man TT but might be able to squeeze it in.
We left after the Super Final at 4pm but considering there was pretty much non stop action from 9:30 it was a really good day out.

Went yesterday, to this, what an absolute total excellent day. Having seen rallycross on the tv for years, had some idea of what to expect, however OMFG!
The spectacle of cars which in any other series would be classed as silhouette racers, travelling past you in excess of 100 mph (on gravel) is amazing. In short the power, noise and fear just can't be beaten.
Just hope we can see more of the same next year ( Makes a change from watching it on World Of Sport with Dicky Davis at 2:45 in 1979) eek!
