Evening all,
I'm currently studying for a BTEC in Computing (National Diploma). However, I have decided that my passion lies where the money isn't. Cars. At the end of the end I plan on moving on from IT, although obtaining a decent grade out and would like to get involved in classic car restoration permanantly.
I realise there is a risk to this move, but I feel I should dip in where it suits me, not where the money lies.
Where would be the best place to get information about getting into car restoration or motorsport?
Are there apprenticeships on offer? (Motorsport/retoration) If yes, are there any in Kent?
What skills would I need to work in classic car restoration or motorsport?
What jobs are there on offer in the motorsport field?
Is there anything else I need to know?

I managed to find a number of courses offered at colleges etc for vehicle restoration - for me the most suitable seemed to be the one at Leeds, for the broad set of skills that would be covered.
Ive had hell and all trouble getting information out of other Uni's that I've made enquiries with - But Im in same boat as you (albeit a slightly older boat
).
My IT based job is as inspiring as a James Blunt album and I feel the need to pursue something that really interests me, despite not having much of a clue about these things, and knowing that the money side of things will take a major hit!

I've found two courses in Peterborough that do classic car restoration, anything from two to five days.
What course did you decide on?
