Folks

If any of you are interested in the occasional 40 minute race for 1 or 2 drivers (compulsory pit stop) for a different challenge then let me know. The CSCC will allow Rover V8 engined Tuscans to race in their "Future Classics" series and other TVRs up to 1990 model types are also eligible.

Thanks

Andy

I've been talking to the cscc guys as an extra place to race the taz, and im def going to do a couple with the taz and its 24v motor... the tuscan/sag will be out in the challenge as usual.

So if anyones up for the 40 min races I should have a seat :-)

Im not sure the tuscan will run for 40 mins on a standard fuel tank!! Im also not sure if my RV8 tuscan would be eligible as its on fuel injection not carbs..

CSCC rules say engine based on std block and original type of induction.. so in a Tas a 24v on fuel injection might just scrape in but a 2.8 on a carb wouldnt not sure about an rv8 tuscan on FI, as i dont think the rover tuscans ever ran Fuel injection

Graham,
CSCC regs actually say original engine and gerabox....to be correct only a 2.8 on injection should be allowed. However, as with all series that want to bump numbers I'm sure variations on a theme will be considered. Certainly they were happy to allow my M to run with a 5 speed box, but sequential boxes are a no no.

Mine too?? but will be in class A for challenge. by the way, some good news - diagnostic scan has shown a little shrinkage in the cancer so we're going in the right direction smile Cheers Tom.

Andy, Tom
Both your cars run non original induction - somthing they must be keen on. Tom, guess yours will have a further problem with the silloette - good news with the scans though smile

Nice one Tom,

As far as the cars go, mine was induction, the carbs were too much. They wanted me to go back to efi. Tom much work and expense. Fuels pumps, ecu, etc etc
Silohette was ok for me, all my aero unbolts.

Yep Induction type was one of the absolute rules, which is fair enough...

although things are very free within the type. so a 3000m could run a single twin choke, a holly, a couple of su's or 3 twin choke down draughts.. a 2.8 could run the original mechanical FI, or a retro fitted EFI..

Ironically, my tuscan with andy or toms motor would be ok, or my engine in a griff but not the other way around, unless i can find a Tuscan racer that tvr fitted with an rv8 and fuel injection

edited to add
mmm managed to dig out a brochure pic for the road version of the Rv8 Tuscan Challenge car and its running injection :-) mmm so just needs a bigger fuel tank hehe

That's excellent news Tom. biggrin

Graham - I'd be interested in anything you can dig up - the RV8 in mine's on f.i. too but I really want to dip my toe into the other series as well. That pic you've posted is an interesting one - biggrin

N.B. This is the email I received from Andy - it answers Darren's question to an extent:

Keith

Good to hear from you.

The CSCC have decided to welcome Rover engined Tuscans in to the "Future Classics" series for 2010. Other TVRs are welcome, too, as long as they are pre 1990 model types.

30 min practice & 40 min races for 1 or 2 drivers (compulsory pit stop).

No additional wings, no sequential 'boxes, List 1B tyres.

Details of "Future Classics" & the calendar etc are on the CSCC web site: http://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/

Membership is £35, Series registration is £95 & entry fees (in 2009) varied from £245 at Anglesey to £285 or £295 at the MSV circuits. There is also the opportunity to enter an additional "Sports Vs Saloon" challenge at the end of each meeting with its own 15 min practice and 15 min race for just £95.

Loads of track time for the money!

There is also a 1 hour race at Spa in July.

I hope you come along

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hope that helps

Also a race at the Ring...

This was the series I intended to do to get some more enjoyable racing - something where I wouldn't need to spend as much time mirror watching and having blue flags waved at me.......then they go and invite bloody Tuscans to take part.. roflroflrofl

I'm afraid that the CSCC race at the 'Ring is only open to Pre 1981 cars. Thats the condition of the German Club that invites us. Its not a CSCC run race.
