Motorsport Books

I'm looking for suggestions for some motorsport related books.
Recently I have read Perry Mcarthy's biography, Schumacher - The Edge of Greatness, Senna- The Whole Story.
I am 3/4 the way through Zanardi's autobiography too.

Where should I go next?
Not just drivers. I've got Driving Ambition, The History of Gulf Motorsport, The Magnificent 7 and a few Integrale books.

Not strictly motorsport as such, but I really enjoyed Richard Noble's book about breaking the LSR with Thrust SSC

That's a great book.

My favourite is Duncan Hamilton's autobiography Touch Wood!, its also one of the funniest books I've ever read.
It'll make all the current F1 drivers seem really boring

All Arms and Elbows by Innes Ireland is one that sticks in my mind. Incredible book.

I'm hoping someone will spot Best Damn Garage in Town: The World According to Smokey in my Amazon wishlist for Christmas.

go to autojumbles and buy old copies of motorsport or something similar form the 502/60s/70s. they are a great read, loads of good race reviews, random articles on hte issues of the day and some great pictures. just dont read the calssified ads.... so much for so little (well relatively speaking!)....

Ooh you lucky barsteward! I've had lunch with his one-time sidekick Tony Robinson though.

The Alf Francis book was reprinted by Haynes but whether its available or not i don't know. Checking amazon though, there are some extraordinary prices being asked for this book but one copy is available for £20.00. Worth picking up i reckon...

However i must say that the writing is very much 'of the period' and might not be to everybodies taste, but it is an excellent book.

Another brilliant read is Managing a Legend by Robert edwardes, and is about ken gregory who was Stirling Moss' manager. A cracking read if you like that period.

Another all time fave of mine is Rallying to Monte Carlo by Mike Couper. Mr Couper was a wealthy man who could indulge in his sport with style. Thus, (and i kid not) whilst everyone else was having their Hillman Minxes and Sunbeam-Talbots craned aboard the ferry at Dover...

Just started The mechanics tale, enjoying it so far.

I struggled with that too. Thought the early stuff was great, and his WW2 antics very enjoyable and easy to read, but once he got his NASCAR hat on it just went on...and on...and...

I can really recommend Nigel Roebuck's review of the 1980s "Inside Formula 1". There's one on Ebay and a couple on Amazon:
