I think I'm in love.
Got a free half hour around Buckmore park (courtesy of college) and I've never had so much fun!

Was especially fun due to some nice damp / greasy condition for some arse out action

Managed to set a 1:11.489 in a 'RX7 Pro' kart limited to 50mph.

Any other kart lovers?
If so where'd you drive and do you have your own kart (cost please )

Not Go karts just karts I regularly do the man of steel events at Buckmore (I'm up there on the 20th for round 2 Winter series). My best lap in the dry is 50.6 (1200m circuit) in a Sport mode RX7, I've never driven them in pro mode. I cant be arsed with O/D karting it's too expensive.

recently had my first taste of karting at F1K near Heathrow and loved it...since then have been to the arrive and drive sessions almost every week Even though it is quite a small track it is great fun.
I am looking forward to trying out a longer outdoor track soon.

According to my print off i was doing the 600m circuit, i thought i was on the full....
Where they hiding that other 600m?

really enjoy karting must get up to buckmore more often for their arrive and drive days.

If you enjoyed the 4 stroke, see if you can get ago on a 2 stroke.

I used to have a rotax max and they are seriously good fun but expensive to race

Well if it was the 600m circuit you were averaging 18.92 mph at 1m 11s per lap

If you did the same 600m circuit in 50 seconds you'd be averaging 27mph and therefore if it was a 1200m circuit you'd have averaged 54mph.

I'm sure someone will re do my maths for me but I would suggest that 54mph is some average speed on a tight indoor track.

I love karting too. My son, who is 15 months old will also love it and be very good at it and will keep me in my retirement too.

You want a TKM Extreme 115cc. No clutch or starter to worry about.

Rotax 100cc (NOT ROTAX MAX) are also fun.

Buckmore is an outdoor track. It's a high speed track with a technical bit at the top and a nice long downhill sweeping section. The speeds a 2 stroke can reach as it gets to the braking zone at Paddock are quite something. The four strokes hit about 80 The outright lap record was set by Amanda Lassu and stands at 37.82 seconds in a DD2 in a super 1 race in october 2007. The race I did the 50.6 second lap in was the race Miguel Morland set the lap record for the RX7 Sport at 45.509 seconds on the 15th March this year (Summer MOS round 1)

I second that, FTKM Extreme is the cheapest form of 'proper' karting.

We have a team at college, we fully restore them. From memory we have 6 class 1 race karts. About 70mph tops.
Just recieved a project kart from our sponsor to restore. It's 25 years old full aerokit with a 6 speed sequential gearbox. Pushing 160mph.
Taking it around mallory park

I've only really done indoor stuff at a few of the local venues, but it is great fun.

What I lack on the straight due to my weight I can just about make up for in extra grip in the corners!

I did a charity event at Buckmore a few years back for the Cupra race series (Racing Rivals on TV) with the BTCC chaps.

Loved it, absolutely loved it. Buckmore is a great circuit even if it is a little hairy spanking it down the straight to that sweeping right hander..

Yes, although I've had a year out since winning my club championship to concentrate Uni. But with some luck I will be starting back in the Rotax Max class next year. And we also get to take the Formula Student car around the kart track 220Kg and 100bhp should be fun!
