Jenson Button and Ross Brawn given New Year honours

At the risk of flaming, Ross Brawn Jenson Button <meh>

One man oversaw a championship winning car on a tight budget and handled 2 competing drivers in a much better way than Ron Dennis a year or so ago. There were probably 10 other drivers who could have done what JB did in that machine.

Why hasn't RD been knighted? Whilst I am no great supporter of the honours list (the civil servant who put the bus lane on the M4 got one) I reckon that if FW deserved his knighthood (which I think he did) RD deserves a knighthood and bar. That's not to mention Patrick Head.

It is possible, of course, that, when actors get them for being good at acting, RD didn't want to slum so turned it down, but I doubt it. There must be money to be made from such awards and I can't help but believe that that alone would make RD accept.

Derek, I gather that a pair of buffoons from "Status Quo" got honours as well. This is further proof that honours are given to those who have made a substantial impact on society - regardless of whether that be positive or negative.

Or, one man had to be extremely fit, out drive his team mate and the rest of the field and risk his life, while the other one sat on the side lines watching it happen. Frank Williams and Eddie Jordan could have managed it just as easily. Just for balance you understand.

Actually, that was not the point, neither Chris's nor mine. You might want to make that the point, but that would be your mission.

Also, they didn't "blow" the WDC. A personal-axe-grinding regulator interceded unbidden and overruled his own stewards in Hungary, imposing a penalty without either precedent or logic. By the regulator's wrongful act, Alonso lost more points than the single one by which he failed to win the WDC. McLaren didn't "blow" that, unless you consider acting on principle and refusing to suck up to corrupt people to be blowing something. I'd say that, to the contrary, McLaren were penalised because Ron Dennis refused to blow something.
