Any Word on JV?

Hi Guys

Any word if JV is coming back next year and, if so, which team?

It would be good to see him back, and i was excited by the Lotus rumours.

There's an issue with the amount of time he's been out of F1 and the licensing regs. There is a way that a team can get an ex F1 driver back into the sport, but after more than 3 years you need to be M Schumacher or have a very large backhander ready.

I'd like to see him back. Certainly a bit more charismatic than some of the drivers on the circuit.

But when he finished he was driving like Ralf and no one wants to see that sort of driving again!!

I'd much rather see someone like Rossi get a third seat at Ferrari then see JV back in an F1 car..

TBH honest I don't remember him being charismatic, the only thing that springs to mind when JV is mentioned is that fact that his race suit always looked a couple of sizes too big.

Well Rossi isn't interested sadly.

Yes, but apparently JV's driving style didn't work too well with grooved tyres. Or something like that.
He's still far more a character than the likes of Pedro de la rosa and a few other drivers that I can't even remember their names.

He's outspoken and a fairly agressive driving style. Horses and their courses but there are some seriously bland folk in F1 at the mo so a bit of spice is always nice. (such a poet )

Presumably he is interested in the USF1 car - so what is the probability of a JV comeback factored into the probability of USF1 making the grid?

I will agree with that, there really needs to be a few more 'characters' in the sport.

He is a couple or so years younger than MS - just been out F1 that bit longer. If MS can do it, then theoretically so can JV, but I suspect he may have been on the pies and out of the gym for too long.

He did that on purpose. He thought that having a tightly fitted firesuit was asking for trouble.

I'd like to see him back - we need more characters and besides, I am sure he'd not hesitate in rubbing wheels with Schumacher given the opportunity...USF1 sounds plausible if he can find the money...

I tried to get him to sing a song for us during the driver parade at Le Mans a couple of years back, and he ignored me. Therefore, I hope he's not in F1 this year.

I really dont think he deserves another drive, he has done very little out of F1. He did not shine in Le Mans, and blew the Renault oppourtunity he had with a decent car.

Agreed. He also started getting a bit snippy in public about the BMW he was driving when the car was 'under performing'. Which RB then immediately drove quicker when he took over.

Come on, be cold hard facts about it people... You can't compare JV to MS. MS was winning races right up until the season he retired and lost the last two championships by a tiny margin. JV just nose dived after the 96 and 97 seasons. You can quote his odd good BAR/ Honda performances all you want but when caustic outpourings and disruptive influences within every team he drove for far out weigh on track results, any team would be very foolish to employ him to even sweep the floors.

The man was booted out of one of his last three race seats for been a public pain in the ass and clearly a poisonous influence in the team, and the final two for (very) poor performances. Not a great track record really...

I dont even remember him being much of a personality of celebrating any aggressive driving.

Always thought he was bland to be honest.

Well it's certainly a 'horse and their chosen course' issue.

Personally, i'd like to see him on the grid. He claims the current car setup works better to his skills so give him a chance and see if he can live up to it.

That said, there appears to be a few characters already in 2010. Button, Schumacher, Hamilton, Kobayashi, Senna (well potentially he's a character. :-) ), Webber.

Still space for JV in that list though. Surely he's preferable from Kovalainen, Luizzi, De La Rosa, Trulli (who seems in grumpville) to name but a few.
