Far too mean for this particular 'betting man' six weeks before the first race ~ the cars under the new fuel constraints are all unknown race quantities so this 'judge' is going to reserve judgement for maybe a race or two before having a serious 'investment'.... Meantime will keep an eye on the markets and may wager a few quid before the first race if anything appeals ...........

How can Nick Heidfeld have better odds than 14 other drivers when he doesn't even have a seat for next year?

How can Bruno Senna have better odds than the Lotus pairing and Glock when his team don't have the funds to compete yet?

Especially as Bari was in the title race and a race winner last year! If for example williams has produced a truly fantastic car then Barichello would be a fairly safe set of hands to go on a championship run with it. Whereas there is a major doubt over whether Heidfeld will even be on the grid.

Senna's odds also look a bit much! If i was going to put on any it would be Vettle/Massa/Button. A hard one this season though, so much potential quality in MCL/Fezza/Merc/Redbull.

Actually i might take a punt on Massa at 7/1. Althought we can't take too much from testing blah blah blah, it would be surprising given the times if the Ferrari isn't at least a half decent car, Ross Brawn has commented on thier apparent speed too.

Also, after Massa's big accident and recovery, i'd wager he would be up for a fairytale return with a title, with the advantage over his team-mate of knowing the team well.

Might slap a tenner on Massa, Ferrari arn't a team i usually like seeing do well (after the boredom of the schumy years, Schumy and Todt wen't ever favourites of mine...) so at least if i do have to put up with a year of Ferrari doing well there could be some money in it for me by the end!

Good wager reasoning there for the Ferrari Non-Fan ~ cover your Massa stake with a smaller bet on his Spanish Team mate in case he shapes up as good as the car 'appears' to be.

Most of my wagers are on Football and I quite often back my least favourite team in a match as compensation when 'my' team get beat. Provided the odds appeal, it's amazing how many times that kind of 'compensation' bet wins.... it's a sort of Sod's Law bet ~ I win whoever wins... Me financially or 'my' team.

I might just have a bet on the Spanish Red Car driver .... yes, think I will ~ That'll stop him ...

Button rating: That does not equate for me ~ a measly 8-1 for a driver in a new team in an unknown quantity of a car with new regulations. However, at this stage of the season, they do not want to catch a cold by going too generous as could happen if his true odds ( 20-1 I would estimate ) were on offer. Those odds include each way place money remember so 8-5 compared to say 4-1 a 1-2-3 place position is again a bit skinny, but they're covering their backs until true form emerges after say one or two races are completed. After all, the fastest car still has to finish a race and that means fuel consumption/weight could have the final say.

It's going to be an interesting season for me, even moreso than last year when I had a nice little touch on Jenson and even @ 20-1 a place each way 1-2-3 on Barrichello, that too was a nice pick-up.

At the moment though, unless the speed shown in this first test session by the Red cars is a true indication of things to come, I really do not have a clue where my money will go at this stage.
