Well Hamiltons accent is probably down to him going out with an American for a couple of years. You do find that you will pick up there accent and they will do the same with yours.

No idea whats wrong with Buttons lol.

Jenson did come from Somerset, perhaps some of that still lingers? That and Monaco is I imagine quite American-heavy.

its foreign accent syndrome isn't it? Mclaren employ many overseas companies, and both Button and Hamilton live abroad, and all that. however for comedy FAS you should listen to Guy Wilks or Kris Meeke. Richard Burns was guilty of it as well back in the day, but he sounded like the foreign rally drivers of the 1980's. I think he might have watched a few too many 80's rally vids back in the day - just like me..

I used to work with an Aussie bloke. He lost his accent within 6 weeks of living in Somerset.

It's quite common when you live and work in communities of many languages. Much the same way foreign footballers speak in an accent that blends their native one with that of the region of the club for which they play.

Media training (amongst other things) eradicates colloquialisms - of which the English language has the most of - that can be wrongly translated into other languages.

If it is to do with living in Monaco then he should have an Italian accent given the highest proportion of the population of Monaco is Italian!

Is it really? I'd have assumed it would be French?

Hardly any French in Monaco. If you were born there, you are a Monegasque.

There are loads of French in Monaco (and in fact very few Monaco-born nationals) - maybe my stat is that Italian nationals boast the highest number of millionaires in the principality....

I'm interested to know why F1 drivers start saying "For Sure..." as soon as they get a drive.
