Matech's 2010 racer thunders round Ascari in FIA world championship warm-up

With the new FIA GT1 World Championship nearly upon us, Matech Competition has released this short vid of its fruity-sounding new Ford GT-based racer turning its wheels in anger for the first time in a shakedown test at Ascari.

The new Matech racing car will line up against Aston DBR9s, Chevy Corvettes, Lambo Murcielargos, Maserati MC12s and Nissan GT-Rs when the 'new for 2010' GT1 series kicks off in Yas Marina, UAE in April.

"The car is completely new. Not a single element, be it the engine, the transmission system, the suspension or aerodynamics are the same as those of the Ford GT1 from 2009. The roll-out was very promising, and we are confident with regard the forthcoming season," says Matech of the car's first roll-out.

With cars that look and sound this good, we're really looking forward to the start of this new GT1 season, especially with a round scheduled for Silverstone on May 2nd.

Car looks insane (in a good way), so damn aggressive and mean! Absolutely love it!

Is this the last stand of great sounding engines? We had the Nissan GT-R GT1, Then the Honda HSV 010 and now this! Im a little worried this might be the Petrol engines swansong if the Greenies get their way!

Why ?

We do not need ugly Ferraris.

We need many more of these Fords in there!!!

Fantastic!

That thing must be almost square with those widearches, the standard ford GT is already massivly wide... perhaps thats their plan, build a car so wide no one else can overtake!
