virgin and lotus testing times are already inside anyway, HRT have only just started running the car, but noticed a time of around 109% for one. If it's such an issue give them a free day or two's testing somewhere.

It won't happen this year anyway as it needs full agreement from all the teams to change the rule now, obviously the slow teams wouldnt agree so this year will stay as it is.

They might as well reintroduce it for next year though as there' likely to be at least one more new team entering, and now qualifying is all low fuel rather than racing fuel for Q3, there major reason it was dropped in the first place has gone.

While it's a moot point due to needing all the teams to agree I certainly don't think HRT should be allowed any "free" days of testing, there were plenty of free testing days over the last couple of weeks, they just didnt turn up.

Yeah of course the idea would never fly, more just the thought that with a little running they'll probably come up to speed, and if there's a "serious safety" aspect of that running being during a competitive weekend perhaps said running shouldn't be during a competitive weekend?

Of course I'm not gonna argue that they've had their chance, same as every other team, and missed their opportunity, but this stance seems all stick no carrot to me, and pretty contradictory when toadys speaking in the same breath about supporting and helping new teams.

Hopefully not. More running=more speed. Even HRT will be ok. If they got both cars going, they would have more data to analyse... Just a thought.

After todays practice I don't think that it would either harm the sport nor even present an unfair advantage to give the new teams a few extra days for mid season testing. They have much ground to catch up and if they don't make rapid progress I cannot see a future for them...

It could be introduced on safety grounds - that doesn't need approval of the teams. At least, it didn't when MM was cracking the whip.
