Motorsport events you would love to see?

What with F1 being a little bit dull as a spectacle this year I was wondering what dream motorsport events people could think up.
My personal fantasy would be to see a point to point time trial held between Manchester and Sheffield city centres on closed public roads, say Picadilly Gardens to Peace gardens via the a57, obviously this would be a bit disruptive so I would be willing to settle for the outskirts of Sheffield to Glossop to start with.
Held annually over one day with the direction reversed each year. It would be kind of like a very long rally stage, there would be say 25 to 50 cars which had somehow prequalified set of at timed intervals of maybe 15 minutes.
Not sure what specification the cars would be, maybe like the old group B rally cars, or maybe a completely open spec would be interesting (This is fantasy after all).
I think this would be great because it could attract massive crowds and bring motorsport into the city centres, hopefully reigniting some interest in motorsport other than F1 amongst the general public, and creating a festival like atmosphere similar to say the Monaco Grand Prix in both cities. Obviously there would be practical difficulties to be overcome, television coverage, road closures disruption, marshalls etc but i'm sure it would be worth it.
Possibly over time I't could develop into a national series with other races such as say Ipswich-Norwich, London - Brighton, Newcastle - Edinburgh etc.
Obviously this is never going to happen, not least due to the prevailing anti car agenda that exists in local government etc, but wouldn't it be great if it did?
Have you guys got any Motorsport events that you's like to see created or revived that are just never going to happen?

Ipswich to Norwich wouldn't work, you'd get all of the b
