Belgium GP 2010 - Where to stay?

Hi there,

I'm thinking of going to the Belgium GP this year. Can anyone suggest a good, cheap camp site close to the circuit in Francorchamps?

I know this doesn't exactly match all your criteria, but i went in 2007, we couldn't find camping anywhere close by(that wasn't already fully booked), so ended up staying at the Nurburgring Campsite, then just got up early in the morning and drove the hour to Spa.

We had no problems doing this, traffic was almost non-existant, and it worked out nicely as we didnt really want the noisy GP campsite.

Camping L'Eau Rouge

We stayed there. It's a bit of a walk to the circuit, although there are cars willing to take you to the circuit for 5 euros each.

If you've never heard EuroTechno rave music, you'll be an expert by the end of the week. The crazy Dutch and their mullets...

We stayed at a site opposite the Racing Hotel Des Bruyeres which is about a 500m walk from La Source in 2007 which was perfect. It did fill up quick though.

Very pleasant. Mixture of tents, caravans and static caravans.

Good bar and good food, close-ish to the circuit. It was about a 5 min drive (20 mins on race day)

I've stayed many times at the very large campsite just outside the circuit at Les Combes. I've always got the camping tickets on the day but I think you can get them in advance from the Spa website. Full of (largely good-humoured) crazee Germans and their interesting retro hairstyles.

I have to say that of all the F1 races i've been to, it's the best one as a spectator... everyone is really friendly and plays the stereotypical euro traits brilliantly.

Fortunately, at least on the first night, we were so knackered the Deutsch folk singing the German language version of '10 Green Bottles' didn't keep us up long

At the race itself, everyone was fantastic. When it pissed down (as it inevitably does) another group of Germans in front of us shared their tarpaulin to keep the rain off. Top people!

Yep... it's amazing what you can sleep though when you're tired enough. There were some chaps with an F1 game set up on a massive projector and big speakers... played nonstop. Like you say, despite the oddities, very friendly chaps and generous with the beer.
